Straighterline Business Statistics vs Introduction to statistics
#1
I see they offer 2 courses. Anyone know which is easier?

Will they both satisfy TESU's 'Principals of Statistics' requirement for a BSBA?

Thanks

They both come in as regular stats. Tesu essentially transfers anything statistics as regular stats. Aleks has multiple stats and they all transfer the same as well.

So yes either one will meet the requirement for bsba you choose which one.

Sophia has 2 stats courses. Free right now. Might as well take one of those, if TESU brings them all in as regular stats.

Piggy-backing: My plan is to apply to COSC and I have to take Business Statistics. (Rachel83az, I've just started Sophia's Into to Stats. [I signed up for Fundamentals, but stopped working on it. It's something that I need to see rather than to simply read. I'm watching ALL of the instructors for each section.])

Any advice on where/how to take Business Statistics? If anyone has taken both courses, how are they different? I'd love your forever if you said that Bus. Stats. was the equivalent of "Rocks for Jocks," but I've got a sinking suspicion that that's not the case.

It looks like business statistics is usually a less rigorous course of study than straight statistics.

They are largely the same, however:

ALEKS has Business Statistics but you'd have to act fast because COSC probably isn't going to accept them after July 1st. https://www.aleks.com/about_aleks/ace_credit

I took both sophia and straighterline stats classes. The big difference I remember is the tests. SL tests were 70% - 50% math questions and sophia was 90% - 100% math questions.
COSC AS 2019 - completed
COSC BSBA 2020 - completed
Cumberland School of Law M.S.L 2022 - completed
UA - MS Hospitality Management 2024 - completed
WWU - PhD 2025 - in progress

Thanks, Rachel83az, for the information. The old Patridge Family song refrain come to mind, "I think I love you."

Thanks, Withrown. Less math? I DO love you. I haven't taken a staighterline course yet, so I'm going to have to learn about how to navigate that whole studying/test-taking process. While Rachel's advice on ALEKs was appreciated, I don't want to scramble to take it.

I took aleks introduction to statistics ($20 if you finish in a month) and then took Straighterline Business stats. Straighterline was a touch more difficult as it covered more material and had some more theory questions. I chose the business stats at Straighterline vs their introduction to stats simply because they allowed the use of a graphing calculator on that course and it was open book. A graphing calculator with spreadsheets like an Napier was a Godsend. I do believe Straighterline also allows the use of excel which would deeply simplify your life on hr final. It was by no means easy, but I was able to do it and aleks in 12 days. I needed Straighterline as a prerequisite for a school I’m applying to, the aleks was a freebie since I had paid the $20 to use it as a study aid for Straighterline.

Thank you for the very specific feedback on straighterline, anewmanx. Graphing calculator? Aak! That will be a first. It's never too late to learn, I suppose.
