StraighterLine ACE Recommendation Approval
#1
Received this in my inbox today:

------------------------------------

Dear Justin,

A couple of months ago we launched a group of new courses. At the time we had received conditional ACE credit recommendation. We are excited to announce that the wait is over...the American Council on Education's (ACE) Credit Recommendation Service reviewed and recommends StraighterLine's new online college courses for credit. The newest college courses include:
• General Calculus I
• Introductory Biology
• Introductory Biology with Lab
• General Chemistry I
• General Chemistry I with Lab
• Business Communications
If you've been waiting to take one of these courses until they were under the final ACE recommendation, now is the time to enroll.

And if you were one of our students who were closed out of our trial offer, this is your second chance at a good deal.

To help get you started we're offering our customers a $15 coupon off a new course. Don't wait to enroll: this offer is only good until 12/12/10.

To get your discount, please use promotion code '15PASSACE'

----------------------------------

I know there was a pretty lengthy discussion on these earlier, so wanted to spread the word. More options = good things!

Thought I'd add to this and post what's coming in January. No word on whether these will be ACE approved when they're launched.

On a related course note - Stay tuned for a number of new courses schedule to launch in January 2011!

Our expanded curriculum includes:

* Anatomy & Physiology I & II both with a lab option
* Calculus I (Spanish)
* Calculus II
* Managerial Accounting
* Medical Terminology
* Pharmacology I & II
* Psychology

@Sunshine. Are these SL courses that you listed? Accounting II and Managerial Accounting seem like they're the same.

Very interesting, Sunshine. Would be great if they'd add Biochemistry and Organic Chem I and II with labs.

rossatkinson- yes, they're SL courses. Hopefully they'll post some info on their website about these soon.

I totally agree, Yenisei. Seems like they're building a good foundation for these by offering general biology and chemistry w/ labs.

Thanks for sharing all of this! I think it's good news for us!

I have been looking at ways to get Calculus II. When this gets ACE approval, it will be nice to have more options.
AS in 2010 and BS in 2013 at Excelsior College - Transcripts and Costs
MS Biostatistics in 2019 at Texas A&M University - Graduate School

Sharing Credit-by-Exam* and Help for Veterans
Resources Used - 20+ Exams Passed & General GRE
Practice Tests - Available for CLEP and DSST

They could be the same content but taught with different emphasis and book. Accounting II -- for accounting majors (how to do it), Managerial Accounting with a specifically managerial focus (how to use it in decision-making) for everyone else.

I know, it's crazy.

Good point about Calculus II, NAP- this will be a less expensive option than Ohio U's Credit by Exam, or LSU or U Wyoming, or Graduate School Calculus II.
