Do Withdrawals on a B&M Transcript Hurt?

Hi all,

I'm planning on going for a BSLS from Excelsior. Straight out of high school I enrolled in & withdrew from quite a few classes. I only completed 1 class and got a B.

I'm considering whether or not I should even submit that transcript to Excelsior since I would only get 3 credits, and a B. But the real question is whether or not the withdrawals will show up on my EC transcript since they don't count for anything. I prefer to just lose out on the 3 credits than have a bunch of withdrawals on my transcript.

I had forgotten how flaky I was!

Any thoughts or experience with sending transcripts with withdrawals on them to EC?

i think you have to send all transcripts from every university you attended. most universities wont admit you unless they have all of them. im not sure about Excelsior though. even if you dont send it if you go to grad school they will ask for it

As far as I know - they wouldn't even accept the "W" classes. It would be pointless for them to put it on there.
College admissions can decide what to accept and what not to - im pretty sure if you left a note with your submission of transcripts stating:
"Please do not add my withdrawn classes to my Excelsior transcript"
im pretty sure they wouldn't do it.

I took a Stats class at a B&M college and the Stats class through ALEKS - excelsior took my B&M class and counted it as lower level
Because i knew the ALEKS Stats would be counted as upper level, i asked em to throw out my B&M Stats and replace it with the ALEKS course so i could get upper level credit and they said they would.

So im assuming if they can throw stuff out, they can definitely not include it in the first place if you just tell em in the beginning.
And personally, i wouldn't think they would to begin with because I had a few W's in my transcript and none of em showed up on my eval

Submit it man! 3 credits! Every credit counts - its just one less CLEP you would have to take and study for

You'll want to read it more carfeully than I did, but I think this is covered in the latest Student Policy Handbook on page 41 left column. It looks like they don't transfer withdrawals and anything else that you want/need deleted from the transcript needs to be done before matriculation (same column, last paragraph).

I don't plan to apply until May of next year; I'm working on some things before I apply. I'm just trying to see how everything works into my degree plan so that I'll have things in pretty good shape when I do apply. I'll definitely revisit this when the time comes and let you all know.

They wouldn't add the "W" classes to your transcript. Why would they? You do need to send them, however.

Could someone point me to the policy that says all transcripts must be submitted to EC (or any undergrad college)?

I have read on this forum that there are times that is true, like law school applications.

For a previous degree program, I took a course and later found out that it was not going to count toward my intended degree at all. There seemed to be no point to transferring it.

I'm just curious how this rule works.
