I am pretty fluent in Spanish coming from Hispanic parents but I need to brush up on my grammar.
How hard is the CLEP Spanish Exam? Especially for native Spanish speakers?
How long would I have to study in order to make a 70, which is passing for my school?

It's so easy that it's boring, basically you hear a conversation and then pick what the conversation is about from a list of multiple choice answers.

I'm non native, so I can't say, but I would try the practice exam and see how you do. You'll have no problem with the listening part, so if the written practice is easy, go for it!

There was a native speaker on here awhile back that scored a perfect 80 on the exam!! :willynilly: Since you're a native speaker, I'm going to expect you to do the same. Just kidding. :roflol:
I second what burbuja0512 says. The practice tests are your best indicator of your readiness.

I'm a native speaker. As a matter of fact I've only been speaking English for a couple of years. Spanish CLEP is so easy it's embarrasing. I literary fell asleep on some questions hence I couldn't get a perfect 80.
For a native speaker it is perfectly doable without any preparation.

I ordered the study booklet online and took the written practice test they had in the back.
Scored an 80, by regular test grading standards.
I don't know what this would translate to in the CLEP grading scale. Anyone know?
Got 13 questions wrong out of 65.
That's a B, right?

I'm not sure what score it translates to, but I say, go take the exam. An 80% is great, and remember, all you need is a 50 to pass the exam (50 for level I, and a 63 for level II). If you're planning on attending TESC, than all your transcript will say is CR, no grade, nothing. A pass is a pass. Saving time and money without the extra hassle.

Is the practice test an indicator of how well someone will do on the test?
I took the latest test in the online booklet I downloaded.
They wouldn't just have a 100% completely different test, now would they?

100% Different? That depends. They aren't going to give you the exact same questions, but concepts, level of difficulty, and depth should be about the same.
The tests in the books can vary with each CLEP. Try taking a few Peterson's tests online, and if you're scoring around 65%+ you'll do fine. If you feel comfortable with the material, and aren't guessing on most of the questions, then you are probably ready. Only you will know when you feel ready.
All that said, I've never taken the Spanish CLEP, but I have taken 21 CLEPs and DSSTs now.
