Study.com or Sophia or Straighterline for English Comp I
#1
Have a relative who is an adult learner who does not do well with CLEP test taking.  She is looking to begin a summer term through a university and needs English Comp I quickly.

Would you suggest Study.com, Straighterline or Sophia?

I've had a high school junior/senior who has done the questions part of sophia but not the written papers so don't have any knowledge of how Sophia papers are for English Comp I vs Straighterline to be able to give any advice.

I hadn't considered Study.com but with their new pricing tier this is a competitive option pricing wise but again I'm unfamiliar with the workload.

Any opinions, information, comments welcome

Sophia would most likely be easier.

Basically, it really depends on your needs and wants... You may want to add Study.com College Starter onto the list and maybe even drop StraighterLine... The main reason you want Sophia.org/Study.com is due to their cost, ease, speed to finish. StraighterLine is $99/month membership, but you still need to buy each and every class you want to take, Sophia.org/Study.com includes those in the Subscription.

Having said that, if you're looking for advanced placement level or more of a traditional college level class, then StraighterLine would be the option to select, as there is much more work involved for all their classes (I took 34+ from them for the cost and work, plus they were the cheapest at the time). Since then, Sophia.org/Study.com changed their course and fee structure, they're the top choices now...

I was just reading here about Study.com new pricing.

Definitely thinking Sophia or Study.com.  Do you have any suggestion on which?
Are the number of papers between the two options similar?  She will be able to take English 2 at the university but looking for the quickest way to get through English Comp I before the summer term begins.  She's earned approx 84 credits via alternative credit options and English Comp I is her last thing she needs to complete.

Before signing up for anything, the learner needs to find out if the university will accept ACE courses. If not then no point in wasting their time. A community college maybe what they need.

Yes they do, but thank you for the reminder for those that are new to alternative credit options.

You may want to check to see if they will accept the course from both Sophia and Study. There are often limits on what universities will accept when it comes to ACE credits.
