Sophia.com maximum simultaneous courses

Sophia.com allows you to have up to two active courses at one time. 

I just submitted my final essay for English Composition I and would need to wait 5-8 days for the grade to come back. In fact, I have three essays awaiting review in this course.

Using the support chat feature on the website, I asked about starting a new course and the agent was able to activate a third course for me!

Yup, Sophia.org has that as an option, I highly recommend that feature too instead of waiting. I usually do one course that has no writing assignments and a course that does, so it finishes faster and I don't have to keep asking to open another course, but sometimes it depends on the courses I need/want to take, it both may or may not have assignments. It's a plus, since I don't have patience waiting... haha...
