Just a big thanks to Sophia for approving my son's Project Management ACE Transcript request in under 5 minutes. Time was the main factor which caused us to choose Sophia over Study.com, and we definitely made the right choice. My son's last Study.com final took 4 days for them to finalize the course grade, then another 2 days for ACE approval. We didn't want to risk that happening when he needed to send his transcript in by Friday. He took the final at 9:30 AM and despite some ProctorU hiccups, by 11:15 his ACE transcript was on the way to WGU.
Sophia courses can be done for $199 with the TESU199 or WGU199 codes - so if anyone needs one last course and needs it really quickly, this is a good option.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1
Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of Marketing, Corporate Communication
Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this)
ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra
Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management
Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics
Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems
Sophia: Project Management
WGU: Bachelors in HR Management
Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

ACE must have been on it today. I submitted my first ALEKS course (my first online exam for credit) and in less than 10-15 minutes I got an email saying it was already done. I was quite impressed with the quickness also.

ALEKS hs always been pretty fast, it's really great when they have a streamline system like that. I think I had the same experience with that free Sophia 1cr course as well.

I've never figured out why some courses get approved so fast and others not so much - I guess it depends on how many are getting submitted all at once. I had a study.com course approved within hours too but I also had the last one I took take over a week. That was the most frustrating one as I really needed to get that last transcript in.

That's what I don't like about Study.com - their speed with grading, finalizing course grades, and responding to ACE regarding credits varies wildly. I think with the smaller guys - E4C, Sophia, and Shmoop, they do things more quickly because they have much fewer requests.

With Study.com, they have to (in theory) watch the proctoring video, plus possibly grade papers and whatnot. So it's not a thing between them and ACE, rather a thing with checking the box on when the course is complete.
With Sophia and ALEKS, it's all automated. Once you complete the course, you already have the grade, and there's nothing more for them to do. The box is checked immediately upon completion. I'm guessing that when the ACE request comes in, if the names match up, it just goes through automatically.
At least, that's what I gathered from the speed at different places.

I screwed up and selected the wrong course to request credit for from ALEKS once, within a few minutes I had an email from a person at ALEKS saying that I had not completed that course. Not sure that it's automated, but it's pretty dang fast most of the time.

Same- my son did the ACE request for his only Sophia course, and someone from Sophia emailed him about two minutes later letting him know he hadn't yet clicked "submit scores" on the Sophia site to finalize his course. So he did that, and within 3 minutes or so the approval went through with ACE.

I'm guessing that it's automated in that since it all didn't match up correctly, someone there got a notification that there's a problem, and they reached out to correct it. For those without a problem, it can go through in minutes.
