Is that chart accurate or just a guess? Anyway it is an eye opener for sure! I've been homeschooled since kindergarten, so I don't know much about the public school system's doings. This just reinforces my desire to learn at home.

I think its untrue. There is a trick to scholarly research and paper writing at the graduate level. It gets even tricker at the doctorate level, so I hear. But page margins are not the biggest problem you will face.
I have 2 margins that I work with. Block quotes are uniformly indented .5" in APA format and references in the references section have a .5" hanging indent. Just write 5-10 papers in APA format and you will get the hang of it.
