History and Social Studies has always been my best subject but at my college I only got a C in Western Civ. II. I thought that class covered a ton of material. I know I have more knowledge if US History than World history. I can still take many more elective credits. I am plannig on taknig both US History I & II but II had almost double the amount of questions with the flashcards. Which test has to be studies more for? and what does it clep focus its questions on? and has anyone taken Western Civ. I? Was it hard? How much study time, what is covered? I took "Heres to your health" DSST test last week and got a 433 out of 400 using only flashcards and glancing at them all, are all the tests that easy?

I'm also going to attempt Western Civ I. There are TONS of flashcards for this subject so I'm a little scared.... Any advice out there?

US History is WAY easier than Western Civ I. Western Civ I covers thousands of years of history. I found it very challenging. Doable, but challenging. I was much more familiar with US History.
Western Civ I is harder than Western Civ II, in my opinion.

To give you a benchmark, these are '08 pass rates for Dantes exams.
History US I 31%
History US II 32%
Western Civ I 55%
Western Civ II 44%
Good Luck

I have taken Western Civ I and aced it. I thought it was relatively easy, but have spent a lot of time with ancient history. I am also an avid Age of Empires player, which greatly helped me in my WCI testing.
I am currently taking the Instacert practice questions for US Hist I and find them more challenging.

I just took CLEP Western Civ I, and I basically only used the instantcert and studied for 30 min to an hour for a week. I passed with a 68, and quite a few of the questions on the exam were in or close to what was in the flashcards. There wasn't much from the first list, but the Greeks/Romans and Renaissance artists and writers were in a lot of the questions.
I've also taken US History I and II. I found US History I fairly easy (64), but I have been doing a lot of reading and just finished my high school course on the subject. US History II doesn't cover as much time, but it seemed to be more detail oriented. I still passed (59), but I found it harder than the first one.

Among US History I or II or Western Civ I, I would go for for US History I as the easiest. If you're an American, you'll find American History the most accessible, and I think anyone would find that Am Hist I goes into much less detail than does Am Hist II. Also for what it's worth, I found Western Civ II much harder than Western Civ I; although WCII covered a much shorter time period (late 17c forward), WCI, again, covered mainly the high points of a roughly 2,000 year period.
All the best with whatever you decide to do!
