That's.... odd. My point was merely that many others have gone on to do better after graduation, and presumably those who have are also in better positions as a result.
It wasn't a direct criticism of you; it just looks bad to outsiders. It doesn't look good when someone asks about employment and most of the stories are about graduate schools and usually open enrollment graduate schools that will take anyone with a pulse. If you planned on going to graduate school, and it led to a job, then that's great. If you went to graduate school because your bachelor's wasn't enough to land a job, then that is not good.

Ah I see your point. Yeah that's a completely valid concern.
I do recall seeing a lot of posts here in previous years from people who had gone on to get a job they sought, and they cited their degree as a sometimes significant factor in getting the position. But who knows where those threads are now.

Full time position without bachelors in my work place is ~34-36k.
Full time entry position with bachelors in my work place is 40k.
Most jobs i've seen request at least a bachelors now for 40-56k starting this is for non IT jobs.
Im rushing to get my bachelors cause i need to either switch to full time or get the job i want. Its also a check mark i need to finish. I'm tried of being looked down on at work or everywhere because I don't have a degree. Its also depressing to not be considered a position because you dont have a degree though you have the experience. I was even told that without my bachelors i would not be considered at all so its something i need to get done. So now its time for me to put in my work to get my degree to get that checked off.
I heard during jury duty the judge went around asking everyone whats their highest level of education and you would have to say it out loud in front of 30-50 people.
I attended many trainings/meetings at work and most of the time they go around saying their position when i mentioned my position (people without a degree). I was looked down on by people. I dont want to feel that way again to be belittled by people or be in a situation where the discussion of my education puts me down.
That's my motivation.

Thanks for the all the replies. My impression, so far, is that these non traditional degrees are helpful in terms of employment for people who already have some form of career or employment and need the degree to allow them access to more upward mobility in that career. It would be helpful to me to know if there are stories about people in my situation - just starting out or choosing to go on a new career path who have decided to study and get a degree in something totally new. How well did they fair in finding employment upon graduating?

I would like to add to this old post and say that if you are looking for a post grad employment story I sure have a good one for you. I am a New York State employee and was only a Tax Information Aide. Pretty much a really low paid normal worker who is temporary. I BSBA degree was conferred on 9/15/17, based on a letter sent to me from TESU confirming my degree would be conferred on 9/15/17 I was offered a Position as a Tax Technician 1 Trainee. This is a Grade 11 ($ 37,710) which leads to a Grade 14 ($ 44,564) in two years. However this position only requested a Associates degree and 12 Accounting credits. This was a stepping stone. I was offered a much better position only 6 months later with the state which requires a Bachelors degree. So only 6 months after graduating I landed an Accounting Trainee 1 position with NYS. This Starts at a Grade 14 ($ 44,564) and leads to a G-18 ($ 55,646)in two years. However, by the time Im in the position for two years there will be merit and cost of living raises involved and I will be closer to $ 60,000 at the end of two years.
