Hey all. I need humanities credits for U of Phoenix so I need to take either Philosophy or Religion. I want to know which has a lighter workload. What one should I be able to finish the fastest? Thanks in advance.

You're an awesome 1 post wonder, for now anyways! Very typical question and answers are at your fingertips...
First off, what I would do is to check the Straighterline website on grading + exams, then look at their weighted scales.
My second step is to see if either course has an open book final exam. Your answer is Religion for two reasons.
1) Religion has an open book final exam, Philosophy has a closed book final exam.
2) Religion final is weighted at 25% of course grade, Philosophy is weight as 50%.
Essentially you have the same amount of exams, midterm and proctored final...
If you get through all the class materials quickly, it's easier to pass Religion.
I would work hard at getting great grades for the open book exams, midterm and when finals come, you won't have to worry about failing. For Philosophy, It's going to be more stressful if 50% is graded on one closed book final. For many, you can pass the course, before you reach the open book final for Religion as they may already have passed 70% cumulative when they enter the open book final, it's peace of mind.

I also have questions for you, what degree plan do you have, and how many credits have you completed?
Is there a specific degree you are looking into? Can you also tell me why you chose U of Pheonix?

Thanks for the pointer, I should have thought of that. I am not entirely sure if this is what you mean, but my "degree plan" is to take 4 SL courses and 2 Clep exams, at the same time taking my 8 required classes through Phoenix. This combined with my ACE credits from high school will give me enough to get an associates degree. Plus, the four SL courses will give me reduced tuition at Phoenix.

I see, from what you're describing to me is that you're completing an associates degree at the U of Phoenix.
Is that correct? I was just curious why U of Phoenix? Have you not heard about the For Profit news recently?
The two main reasons I tell people NOT to go with them is because 1) It's got a bad taste in hiring managers mouths
2) They're 4 times more expensive than the Big 3, I just did a quick calc on your tuition discount, is it $8-$10 grand for the Associates?
I'm just trying to do a few things, 1) Save you money, 2) Get you a better degree with the same courses you're taking
3) Get you that degree faster and easier than U of Phoenix can, you'll have more than enough $ left over for your Bachelors.
You can finish an Associates of Arts, but I would recommend an Associates of Science at COSC for cheaper.
Let me calculate that for you: https://www.charteroak.edu/catalog/curre...t_fees.cfm
App Fee: $75
Graduation Fee: $205
Student Service Fee: $257
Technology Fee: $52
Tuition: Out of state (non CT residents) $363/credit
You only need 3 for Cornerstone = $1089, transfer everything else in
Take your current 4 courses from Straighterline $100 membershp + ($50 x 4) = $300
If you have ACE credits that you mentioned, those are already included
Taking 20 credits from FEMA = FREE
What you need - 8 more SL courses or Saylor courses (EVEN CHEAPER) = $100 + ($50 x 8) = $500
TOTAL for degree = $2841 (if you take 8 Saylor courses, it's just 8 x $25 bucks, that would be $2541)
Suggestion: Do yourself a favor, save some $, donate $100 to what you just saved to a children's/women's hospital foundation and play it forward.
I'm here to help if you need me to guide you through those steps, just DO NOT GO WITH U of PHOENIX, academia call them the U of PEN15*.

Yeah well, my degree plan is pretty set out already, and I am in pretty deep. Money is a non issue, and I really don't plan to ever get a Bachelor's degree. I understand that it could be cheaper other ways, that is fine. Why do you think that Phoenix has a bad reputation with employers, other than articles written 5+ years ago?

Even if you didn't want to go with COSC, there is Excelsior College with their CyberSecurity degree.
Excelsior College | Bachelors Degrees | Cybersecurity
Or WGU for their competency based degree programs, also a very good option.
Online IT Security Degree | Information Security Degree | WGU College of Information Technology

5+ years ago, and still going strong presently. They've gone from a public institution to a private one this year, lost more than half their students. It's not just them actually, practically all For Profit institutions are being hit hard, Corinthian Colleges filed for Bankruptcy, EDMC closed many campuses and sold some of their under-performing subsidiaries, the list goes on (ITT, Devry, etc).
Furthermore, you're never in too deep with a degree plan, things in life changes, whatever you currently have, WILL transfer to the other schools just fine.
You're not in deep at all since everything will move according to your plan, just the school has changed to one with a better reputation... why not eh?

I agree, it has a terrible reputation, although part of it is the ridiculous cost. It's seen as a way to rip people off, including (maybe especially) military folks. Predators in the industry. None of that part of it says anything about whether the degree is worth something, but when you get a bad reputation in one area, it tends to color everything.

No matter how I try to rig it based on my possibilities, Excelsior's tuition calculator says it will cost more than phoenix to complete my associates degree.
