My son is in SL Financial Accounting now. The 4 exams are 150 points each, Midterm 200, final 200. An important thing one should consider when taking these SL courses is the amount of time SL gives you for the exams. For example, in Accounting 1 & 2, the exams were 25 questions each and you have 2 hours to complete each of them. In Financial Accounting, there are 25 questions and you only have 75 minutes to complete the exam. It's a real time crunch and one needs to have good working knowledge of the material in order to pass the exams in that amount of time.
Can anyone tell me the number of questions and time limit for the exams in Managerial Accounting? If it's like Financial, we will skip it. If it's like Accounting 1 & 2, then we'll consider it.
The amount of errors on the Financial Accounting exams is unacceptable. My husband and I have looked over my son's exams, looked up the correct answers, done the calculations, etc., and there are quite a few errors on the exam. Accounting 1&2 exams did not have nearly as many errors as Financial Accounting exams have. And their test bank seems unlimited. After taking Financial Accounting Exam #1 seven times banghead, there are almost no repeat questions. The publisher really should take a hard look at the accuracy of their test questions. The errors alone can force one into a B on the exam. One trick we learned is if the answer is off by a single digit, go with it. For example, if you know the answer is supposed to be $282,107.30 and they list $202,107.30 as an answer choice, go with it, and it will most likely be correct. We've seen a couple of the definitions that were just flat out wrong.
I came to this forum researching for my now 17-yr-old son who was earning credits via testing and online courses. He completed TESU's BUS-421 in March 2018, the capstone for the TESU BSBA GM degree. Below are the courses he took:

Thanks for taking the time to share those tips! I'm currently taking ACCT I and II, but will start Financial in a week. So happy to know how to approach this course.

My son doesn't recall the details about the Managerial Accounting tests and final, but he blew through it in 3 days and barely read the book or went through the online material. He ended up with a final score of 80. He isn't going into accounting so he really just wanted to get it over with. He said it wasn't any harder than Financial Accounting, just had a different focus.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1
Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of Marketing, Corporate Communication
Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this)
ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra
Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management
Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics
Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems
Sophia: Project Management
WGU: Bachelors in HR Management
Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

Each of the four graded exams have 25 questions and a 75 minute time limit. The midterm has 40 questions and a time limit of two hours. The final exam has 75 questions and a time limit of two hours.

I agree that Accounting 1 & 2 can be completed in a few days each.

Thanks!! How would you rate the difficulty of Managerial as compared to the other SL accounting courses (1, 2, Financial)?

Managerial is my first accounting course since high school. Not overly difficult, but I swear that I have questions marked as wrong, that are correct.
We are all on the same side here, trying to better our lives....so let's get along and help each other out.
Learn a trade. Gain technical skills. Make money, then use this money to get a degree...if you have the desire.

Regarding questions marked wrong that are correct: That has been our experience as well in Financial Accounting.

Interesting - I just checked and yes, he took Accounting 1 and Managerial Accounting. Both Accounting 1 and Financial Accounting transfer in as the same course at WGU, so I didn't realize they were very different. Now that I'm reading your post I'm glad it seems he picked the easier one. I think he spent a week on Accounting 1. Hated every second of it but didn't have any trouble with it - it sounds like Financial Accounting might be more math-heavy.
