Does anyone know if any of the Big 3 grant credit for these tests?

It's not listed on Charter Oak's master exam list. The College Board website says that the subject tests are for measuring a students ability to take the course, not to exempt it. However, I have seen that some colleges (Umass - Amhurt for example) give credit for the foreign language versions of the test.

I figured that was the case. It seems that they are used to give the student advanced standing. For example, a student would be able to skip over introductory math courses and start on higher level ones.

That's how it seems....but besides the SAT I, most colleges will administer the COMPASS test to measure math and reading abilities.
If I were going to take a test, I'd skip the subject based SAT II and just take a CLEP. I'm not interested in proving I can take a course.....I want to skip the course! haha

I was interested in some subjects that aren't offered by CLEP and it seems to be difficult for an adult to take AP exams. My local CCs use the Accuplacer in order to place students in the proper math and writing/reading courses. The SAT Subject Tests seem to be mostly used by competitive programs.

I could see using SAT II performance as part of a portfolio submitted for credit. You'd want to explain how the SAT II demonstrates college-level knowledge, e.g., citing schools where it was worth credit or advanced standing, and comparing content to content in a college course. You'd probably want to supplement this with demonstration of more specifically college-level learning, e.g., article or book reviews on college-level reading on the subject.
