I studied for a few hours this evening and feeling fairly confident with the practice exam went ahead and took the TECEP. The exam took about fifty minutes. Unfortunately I failed with a 65%. I used the DMU site primarily. I have some very slight knowledge through work also but it wasn't enough. The answers for most of the questions involving actual terms were very similar to each other. As said by others the actual exam covers some more general topics and knowledge of specific diseases I wasn't entirely prepared for.

Thank you for your review and update for this, which practice exam did you use? I will use the DMU and other resources mentioned on the forum to prepare for mine.

I'm almost halfway through the DMU free online course, and only have studied a few hours myself, but got a 94% on the practice TECEP exam. Think I'll be okay?? I hope you have other resources to go with, other than just the DMU online course. Which practice test did you go with?

I'm a good test taker, took anatomy and physiology and health science technology in high school, went through the Saylor courses for A&P for a PLA, took SL Microbiology, and have completed a few biology CBEs. Health science is something I read about often for fun, so the DMU course was enough for me. It's not enough for someone with no background in the subject. It only covers 10% of the terms typically found in a medical terminology course. cbosdell Wrote:I studied for a few hours this evening and feeling fairly confident with the practice exam went ahead and took the TECEP. The Delmar Cengage study source posted by Nichelenole covers a few terms not covered in the DMU course, but not many more. The second source she linked to seems to cover some pathology stuff.

I was feeling confident with it yesterday---but now that I'm reading all of this, I'm not so sure! I'm hoping that I can just really focus on the etymology of the words and figure it out? :| My test is at 11am today, so, we'll see!! I just need this one credit, so I'm praying I pass!

Good catch. I used the DMU site primarily (approx. 6 hours total concentrated study?) & the first three quizzes at the bottom of American Medical Terminology Free Exercises | InterActive Medical Terminology listed by NicheleNole. I would have gone more in depth and taken more quizzes on that second website, but simply ran out of time. Overall, I think I studied less than 8 hours on it? Definitely the best TECEP experience so far... |
