Rethinking the big 3
#11
If you want to change degrees, you just email advising and ask them to change it. I agree with Synicaal that the 2.67s aren't hurting you. The other evals are "what-ifs" you generated by choosing a different degree for an eval. Once you actually change degrees you will get an official eval for the new degree and the 2.67s will be granted exceptions like they were for your current degree.

Dfrecore is by far the best to help you map out a business degree at TESU.
NanoDegree: Intro to Self-Driving Cars (2019)
Coursera: Stanford Machine Learning (2019)
TESU: BA in Comp Sci (2016)
TECEP:Env Ethics (2015); TESU PLA:Software Eng, Computer Arch, C++, Advanced C++, Data Struct (2015); TESU Courses:Capstone, Database Mngmnt Sys, Op Sys, Artificial Intel, Discrete Math, Intro to Portfolio Dev, Intro PLA (2014-16); DSST:Anthro, Pers Fin, Astronomy (2014); CLEP:Intro to Soc (2014); Saylor.org:Intro to Computers (2014); CC: 69 units (1980-88)

Ok also I'm wondering if charter oaks new business admin degree would pull these courses in better?? I looked at degree plan looked like I had most of it done? What courses at SL fulfill the gen eds for liberal studies if I go that route are we thinking history, psychology etc ?

I have spreadsheets for you. For business, you need to see if they will take your "Intro to Business & Global Environment" course and move it to the International Business requirement (instead of it being classified as a BUS-101 Intro to Business course). You will need to show the syllabus and/or course description from the school catalog where you took the course.

For the BALS, you are close to completion. You need English Comp II (for both), American Government (for both), and then you have some choices for the BALS. You can either move the Ethics course up to fulfill the Ethics requirement and then take another UL course for the AOS; or you can just take a different Ethics course. For Info Lit - you can either have them move the Tech Writing courses and put them there, and then take a different course for the AOS; or you can take another Info Lit requirement course like Intro to Religion or A&I Lit.

No idea on COSC, maybe someone else can help you with that.

Thank you so much for making this for me.. Is it possible to take my liberal studies degree and finish my degree plan for business after? I'm noticing I'm 27 credits short..

Sure, you can get the BALS first; but the last 15cr of it will cost $1900, making the total amount to pay for the degree $4,298. The last 27cr of the BSBA will cost $839, making the total amount to pay for the degree $3,237.

Why would you pay MORE for the BALS ($1500 capstone), only to turn around and pay an additional $900 for the BSBA, when you could pay $900 for the BSBA and be done with it and save $1000 on the degree?

Here's a revised spreadsheet showing the costs better.

Sometimes, a little extra work will pay off. It will even be quicker, because you can take the capstone as a TECEP, meaning no 3-mo course.

Because I want to teach.. but I want a business degree as a backup in case it doesn't work out .. I am nervous about passing my CSET my husband tells me I will pass it but given how people fail this thing I'm nervous to be stuck with a liberal studies degree. Everyone I know is discouraging me from becoming a teacher because how bad they are treated now but it's my passion I've been wanting this since I was a little girl. Also I couponed the last few classes for the Liberal studies degree so it would only be $583 more than the business. If I do the business degree I will cram those classes as I just bought a month of study.com today I completed principles of management in 3 days last time I had it so the plan would be a class every 3-6 days.. it would save a lot to just get it done

Ok if I complete all these courses with coupons and in the same month my total is only $2817 because won't I get the study.com discount making residency waiver $1800 I already have SL membership active so just would need to add them.

Ah, I thought the BSBA was the ultimate goal.

Your plan is solid then. It's not much for the BSBA, but don't get any of those extra courses until AFTER you graduate and get your degree conferred from TESU. Nothing you earn between now and the conferral of the degree will count towards your second degree.

You can pay $200 for the Study.com membership, even if you don't take any courses there (although I recommend taking some to get your money's worth). I would take World Religions (Info Lit), and an UL AOS course like History of the Vietnam War, Abnormal Psych, or Social Psych, then have TESU move your Business Ethics course up to Ethics. Obviously Am Govt and English Comp II need to be taken as well.

Is it possible to teach in California with a BSBA instead of the BALS? It seems to be possible with any other degree, but they have some verbiage about "any BA other than professional education".

I would agree you don't want to get stuck with a BA in Liberal Studies if you don't end up teaching. IMHO, Cali school districts don't pay enough considering the cost-of-living.
