Research in Experimental Psych

Hi,

Has anyone taken the ECE called "research in experimental psych" ? Can anyone give me any feedback? Are there any topics that IC did not have in the flashcards? Is IC enough to take this test? Is it hard?
Basically I need all the info I can get...

Did anyone make up a review that they can send me?

I would recommend that you download the free Exam Content Guide for this test from the EC website. This gives you a very clear outline of exactly what they expect you to know for this exam. I do not rely only on IC flashcards-- I usually supplement all my studying with various resources. For this exam I did the following: I purchased a used copy of the textbook they recommend (Experimental Psych, Myers and Hanson) I bought 5th edition for $2 on Amazon, IC flashcards, Specific Exam Feedback, companion website for the textbook here, and purchased the practice exams from EC ( 2 for $65). The practice exams helped me more than anything else after I got the main facts in place. If you are someone that benefits from practice exams I would highly recommend them. They are a great study tool and they are very close to what the real test is going to look like. If you don't want to purchase the practice exams there is a free practice quiz included with the Content Guide. If you can't find the textbook through Amazon go to the companion website for the textbook--it is basically giving you the textbook for free-- it has outlines, quizzes, etc. that site is a great resource!!!-- Hope this helps.

i have the content guide and although i did find the book on amazon, it was very expensive so i looked at the website you sent me and i saved the link so that should be a big help. I can't afford the ECE practice tests at this point so I guess i am going to have to deal with these resources.

-Do you remember anything specific about the test that was hard?
-do you have any idea of things i should focus on that you did not come across while studying?
-can you rate how hard this test was?

This was my least favorite exam to study for. I found the material very boring and had to force myself to study. What I found most difficult was keeping all the different types of research designs straight and why they use certain ones for certain situations. They are going to give you scenarios on the test and ask you what type of design is this or what type of design would be best for this situation. I think you need to focus on exactly what they have in the content guide-- they are giving you exactly what they will have on the test. However, some things will have more questions than others. Research designs are 50% of the test according to the guide (25% non-experimental designs and 25% experimental designs). Some things like writing research reports is only 8% of the test according to the guide. The test is 130 questions so you can see how many questions will be on it for each category. I found this test a challenge but some people thought it was no big deal. Everyone is different. Have you looked at Specific Exam Feedback on this forum? You will see for some it was tough for others not so bad. All I know is that the practice exams is what helped me more than anything else. The practice exams are almost exactly like the real thing. They give the rationale for each question which was very valuable to see how they get their answers. But some people only study a few days, no practice exams, and get an A. Go figure?? Everyone is so different. By the way, almost every textbook on any subject has a companion website that you can view for free. Google the name of your textbook and put "companion site" in the subject line along with the textbook name and you will get the sites for it. This is one of the best resources out there for free!! I have used companion sites for every exam I have taken so far. The outlines and quizzes and glossaries are a great supplement to my studying.
