Sophia has now added ID Verification to its final milestones:
Jumio Verification
You may be prompted to provide an ID for verification through Jumio. Jumio verification is used to confirm a student's identity by verifying their government-issued ID and comparing it to a subsequent selfie.

Ok i hate this but also I hate the typing verification, which has never worked for me. I always have to type it out twice before they will send me an SMS. Wish I could just request the SMS direct.

Hmm, is this for every class now at Sophia.org or just specific classes? Or is this a one time thing?

It is currently listed for every class with a final milestone. Whether it is prompted for every class, not clear yet, but it is now part of the instructions for all of them.

I see, I guess they've decided to 'verify' people for each and every final exam! It's a good addition to just the Biometric proctoring and IP logging they currently have, adding this secondary measure should stop future cheats, hopefully...

I took a Sophia final last night and was not asked for any identification other than typing in the box like usual. I have taken two classes in the last few weeks and was not asked for any other form of ID.

Sophia actually made a post about this 3 months ago.
Quote:You may be prompted to provide an ID for verification through Jumio. Jumio verification is used to confirm a student's identity by verifying their government-issued ID and comparing it to a subsequent selfie.
Here are the Jumio verification steps:
- You will be prompted to submit your government issued ID to Jumio.
- You will then be prompted to take a selfie, which Jumio will compare with the photo on the government issued ID.
- Jumio verifies that the information on the ID matches your selfie.
- If the verification is successful, you may proceed with the final milestone and mark the course as complete. If the verification is not successful, you will need to repeat the process until you have successfully been verified. You will not be able to continue otherwise.
TIP: In the United States, a valid passport, driver's license, or ID card are all accepted Jumio ID types. If you are outside the United States, please refer to this PDF for accepted IDs.
Notice is says you "may be prompted" and I suspect it will be used more often with foreign addresses.
