After some reconsideration, Charter Oak may come out to be less expensive than TESC. I made a previous statement that a downside to choosing COSC was that it would be more expensive because of the additional classes vs. TESC. I still chose COSC though!
I am still waiting for the results of my credential evaluation from my Certified Paralegal Exam. I believe that the Civil Litigation will take the place of the required Civil Procedure course at COSC. Also, the Family Law and Wills and Probate portion of my CP Exam will take the place of the courses at COSC of the same name (required electives).
Publius2K informed me that I can fulfill the Interpersonal/Bus Comm requirement by taking Business Communications at Straighterline (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU) so that cuts down on costs significantly. I'll be taking the DSST (World Religions) to meet the Global Understanding Requirement.
They say I am missing a natural science but that's malarky. I took a Biology CLEP which they applied but they applied my Geology course to electives. The admissions adviser says that is a mistake in their system and it will be corrected so that I am not required to take another natural science course.
I am taking Technology in Law and the Cornerstone the second session of this semester. I intend to take Constitutional Law and the Capstone during the summer.

Natural Science (Required) Required 6.60 Credits 6.00 Credits;*1 Requirement(s) Already completed, needs to be corrected on evaluation.
Cornerstone Seminar (Required) Required 1 Requirement(s) In Progress at COSC
Given all of that I would have 9 credits at TESC and 12 credits to take directly with COSC.
Cost comparison:
That makes me feel better honestly. I will be getting a concentration and it will cost less. It will just be a bit more work.
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

I chose Charter Oak because I live in CT. I take my DSST and CLEP's at their test center. I have had a great experience so far. My student adviser returns my emails immediately and the business office is very responsive. I did notice that some of my DSST tests were considered lower level when their master exam list said it was upper level. I sent one email and it was corrected within a day. Any time you notice something which you believe is wrong, just ask. COSC will fix it or explain why quickly. I am personally very happy with my choice.

You filled out the TESC form wrong. Why would you take 9 credits there for a liberal studies degree? All you need to take there is the liberal arts capstone. For financial aid purposes, you only need to take 6 credits. You can test out of the rest for $100 or less for each course. I think there is also something wrong with how you filled out the COSC form. Your semester fees should at least be $480 because you can't take the cornerstone and capstone in the same semester. That form used to automatically separate the two.

Regarding TESC, I only need 3 courses at TESC total. I need two courses and the capstone so testing out of anything is not an option or i can't use financial aid from what I understand. Is that incorrect? If the Capstone is not considered to be 3 credit hours then how do they calculate the cost of it? If I put in I have 120 hours to transfer into the TESC calculator, it doesn't even assess the capstone in the calculation which I thought was mandatory now.
Regarding the COSC form, I'm not sure what I did wrong but I guess i need to figure that out. I know I only have the Cornerstone, Capstone, Constitutional Law, and Technology in Law that I am taking there.
Interpersonal/Business Communications, Civil Procedure, Electives, and Global Understanding will be fulfilled by other methods (testing, straighterline, credential evaluation, etc.) So how do I input that information so that it factors in the enrollment fee for spring and summer...or should I just add 240 to the total?
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

6 credits is the minimum to receive financial aid, so that would be the capstone and another course. However, I think you still need to pay the enrollment fee upfront out of pocket. 6 credits per semester or 6-month period is half-time; 12 credits per semester or 6-month period is full-time. 6 credits will only get you a quarter of your annual financial aid award. Are you using loans and grants? Are you receiving anything from the military?

I was aware of that. That's why I have two classes planned for spring and two classes planned for summer. The enrollment fee was paid upfront but the way it was explained to me is that it is still factored into the financial aid award. I realize I will only receive a prorated amount of my financial award. FA has already been calculated. What is not covered by PELL and the COSC Out of State Fee Award, I'm covering with subsidized loans and a scholarship.

That's why I wanted to take the last 4 courses rather than having to test out. I can at least get partial FA.

But wait, there's more! The requirement is in "Interpersonal/Business Communication." The UExcel ECEP (formerly ECE) in Interpersonal Communication should likely meet that. Interpersonal Communication is a 3-hour test, for $325.
There's also a separate UExcel ECEP in Workplace Communication with Computers. This is primarily a professional communication course, more than a computer technology course. Basically, they mean that it incorporates basic Internet and office applications literacy in the context of communication:
Excelsior College Wrote:The content of the examination corresponds with course offerings such as Business Communications, Workplace Communications, Introduction to Communication Technology for Business, and Managerial Communications. [â¦] This examination specifically tests for an understanding of business communications principles, including the foundations of communication, effective and ineffective teams, interpersonal communication, and diversity within the business environment; how to write effective business messages; how to select the most appropriate technologies to enhance communication within organizations; how to use various message patterns effectively, how to use visual aids and supporting data to enhance communications, and how to use oral and online presentations to improve business communications.
Workplace Communication with Computers is 2 hours, and $95.
