Re-Enroll TESC (FEMA Credits)
#1
Happy Holidays to all!!!

Previously enrolled at TESC & had credits transferred in (ALEKS, CLEP & 27 FEMA). I have been on my testing journey and as we know, since my fema/completion/transfer/2013, TESC is no longer accepting FEMA. Since these credits have already been transferred into my account/TESC should I feel confident that they will count? Currently showing when I select Academic Evaluation - all 27 Free Electives are accounted for with the FEMA courses.

Have plans to call on Monday but was checking to see if anyone had a similar experience and could share. Depending on the outcome it could play a roll if COSC becomes a better option moving forward.

Thanks!

I expect that once you re-enroll the FEMA credits will disappear with the new evaluation.

If your enrollment is still in effect I suspect they will honor that. If it has lapsed it could go either way ( my inclination is you may have to fight for them if this is the case). If they are denied I would appeal to the registrar.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

The missing piece of information is if you have continued your enrollment since your eval. I'm sorry that I can't enlarge that pic, so I have no idea if the info answers my question, but if you were -and are still- enrolled, then your credit will be grandfathered in without question.

Now, if there was a lapse in enrollment, then it's a long shot. I give you better odds than 99.% if a) you really WERE ENROLLED as a degree seeking student - not just an applied/evaluated student and b) there wasn't too much time passed, maybe 2 years or less. If both a and b are true, I think your odds of initial credit denial are high but you have a shot at an appeal. Id say you're more in the 50:50 range if you meet all of the criteria and appeal. Now, if a and or b are not true, then you don't have any ammunition, so an appeal probably won't help. If you were degree seeking and had to stop, you need a reason. I would never tell you to lie, but whatever your reason for stopping, you need to put together a logical and well articulated reasonable explanation that begs them to overrule their policy on your behalf. They have the power to do that, just keep that in mind.

Or you could transfer them to more FEMA friendly colleges like COSC:hurray: and Excelsior.

Thanks for the advice - If a fight is needed and won, I will be sure to share...

COSC has definitely moved up the charts. Trying to make sure all the efforts count towards the end goal. 2016 has 'finish it already' written all over it!

Update - After transferring some new ACE credits (63 - thanks Straighterline) into my account, the evaluation triggered a new review on my FEMA credits and they were removed. Multiple calls, emails and it pretty much came down to the fact that since I had never officially enrolled but just applied, the credits would be new transfers and TESU does not accept FEMA. Even though I have moved away (I think) from getting the fastest or some would say easier degree options like Humanities, Liberal Science (27 Free electives) and focused on Natural Science, Finance or Economics, something about having them removed was a bummer. Since I can only use 6 free electives with the latter degrees, not much is actually lost. The previously applied 27 FEMA credits just made the goal seem a little close - the optics at least. With that being said, it's still going down and now I have a little extra work to do.

If it does not show, I am all but all in on TESU even though my signature shows Vs. Should I take this as a sign and have COSC take a look? To this point, I still have not even applied to see what the credits would look like. The recent name change with TESU has played a weighted part in the lack of action. Secondly, not having to take a capstone (use of Penn State credit/TECEP) currently feels like an easier completion option. I could be possibly off on this assumption.

How does the room feel about it?

Natural Science DOES have a capstone, and TESC does not have an Econ degree that I can see. I think that TESU's BSBA is a no-brainer for those of us who don't want to pay the $1560 capstone. But, obviously, that has to be offset by the cost at COSC of having to take a Cornerstone and Capstone, then comparing the cost of finishing the degree at both schools; if COSC accepts a lot more credits, then you'd be wise to consider it as well.

I personally would apply at both.

What degree are you actually seeking? You have over 90 credits, a lot in business without counting your FEMA Credits. The cheapest route would be TESU for a BSBA. You can apply and enroll at TESU by taking a TECEP all for $186.00. $75 app and $111 TECEP. Complete 8 TECEPS (24 credits) to fulfill the per credit residency and you'll be at or near your 120 credits to graduate. $1,275 would be TESU total cost for 8 TECEPs, App and Grad Fees. For COSC, you have to take a cornerstone and a capstone, which seems you do not want to take. Just taking those two courses would cost you $2,767 non resident with the application fee, cost of credit hours, Student Service and Technology Fees and Grad Fee. If you are a Connecticut resident it will be $2,181 with all the same fees. I believe you can't take those two courses at the same time and if that's the case that's another $257 non res or $193 res Student Service Fee and another $52 for Technology fee. If your a res it's almost double the amount for COSC over TESU and non res over double the amount of TESU. This cost is only for TESU BSBA. For other degrees at TESU you can add $1,560 non res or $1,275 res for the capstone and $61 reg fee. $2,896 non res and $2,510 res total cost for 7 TECEPs, one 3 credit course (capstone), and all fees (app, registration, grad).
