Should I drop PA course?
#1
Hello forum members, I need some suggestions.

I am currently enrolled for the free portfolio assessment at Empire State College. However, it appears that I will not be needing the PA credits as I believe I've completed my degree requirements for TESC. I really dislike not finishing something I've started, but I really need to devote my time elsewhere instead of on a course that I don't need and cant use for even a second bachelors degree.

What kind of negative repercussions would I have if I didn't complete the course? I would not transfer the transcript to TESC, as there is really no point. Would the incomplete course look bad in my records? I remember reading somewhere on this forum you must be careful to list all the colleges you have attended on new college applications. Would this affect application to future colleges for Masters degrees or MBA's in any way?

Thank you for the feedback.

You aren't a matriculated student. You're considered a "Saylor" student.

I'm not clear as to what that means. Does that mean dropping the course doesn't matter? Or do you mean to say I don't need to include Empire State College on my future college applications? To do the PLA I did have to "apply" to the college and be accepted into the program. How would I know if I am a regular student or "matriculated" student? (I assume you know I am, I can't figure out how I would know what my status was).

I'm assuming that you aren't an enrolled ESC student. You signed up for the program as a "Saylor student." That's what I did. I didn't fill out an application to apply to ESC; I filled out paperwork to enroll in their special program. If you actually applied to ESC, you would have to send in all of your prior transcripts like normal. This is where someone would apply to the school.

So I'm still unclear. What kinds of negative repercussions could I have if I drop the course?
