Hi all glad to be in this forum and to start on clep
okay Iam from the united arab emirates and have been working with no degree for the past 20 years and just stumbled to clep.
I really do need a degree and want to get there fast....very fast without having to get through by just an unaccredited degree..but this is the catch.
I just asked the provider for the test center about the fees for sitting on the exam for clep.
for each exam one hour costs 30 dollars apart from the fees of 65 dollars!! if you go for the second hour even five minutes its going to be counted as 60 !!:confused: dollars so my questions;
is it possible to do one exam in just one hour?I need to save on that!I have allready registered on IC and want to start on sociology as the the one to give me the morale to start going by the discussions here..
another question is if I finish all the exams in Clep will this be taken as a degree?if I finish half of the exams will other online accredited college accept this?
pls advise..
thanks..

Hi,
Welcome! That's the craziest testing fee system I've heard of.... is that they only test center you can get to? Some of the tests might be able to be completed in 1 hour, but I've never done any that quickly. Even if you could.... you won't know how good or bad you're feeling about the test until you've already started it. Is saving the second $30 worth potentially throwing the $65 in the garbage (because you might fail if you spend your concentration on watching the clock instead of taking the test!!)
I dunno - I think I would have to advise that (if you cannot find a different test center), just assume that you will need to pay for 2 hours. These tests can be stressful... you are going to exponentially multiply the stress by setting a tough time limit for yourself.
As far as your second question... if I understand the question correctly, it sounds like you may be under the impression that CLEP will grant a degree. They do NOT - they are not a school. CLEP is an examination program that has been reviewed and accepted by most schools. You must affiliate with a school that will accept and grant credit for the exams you take. CLEP does not give credits. Don't just start blindly taking CLEP (or any other) tests until you affiliate with a school and they approve specific tests toward your degree program. If you blindly just start "CLEPping", you are certain to throw a lot more money in the garbage than the $30 you're trying to save by rushing thru an exam!!!!
Best of luck!

PASSED:
CLEP-Information Systems & Computer Applications: Scored 62; Nov 07
CLEP-Analyzing & Interpreting Literature: Scored 57; Feb 08
DANTES-Criminal Justice: Scored 54; Jan 08
DANTES-Fundamentals of College Algebra: Scored 47 (and 47 is the req'd pass score! ); Jan 08
DANTES-Drug & Alcohol Abuse: Scored 57; Feb 08
DANTES-Ethics in America: Scored 55; Feb 08
DANTES-Organizational Behavior: Score 54; Mar 08
DANTES-Technical Writing: Score 58; Mar 08
FELL SHORT OF A PASSING SCORE (I'll never say the 'F' word):
ECE-Organizational Behavior: Score D (but passed DANTES version 2 hours later!

Hi, Here's the deal. I'm pretty sure that they can't do that as it would interfere with the integrity of the testing process. I would definitely write or call clep and ask them about this. This sounds "funny all the way around. Good luck!

Hi GettinMyBA
can't you come with a more simple user name so that I can be able start a conversation...
Thanks for your response.
yes I did think that after finishing some cleps then I can be able to forward it to some online university and they will accept it.I didnt know that one had to enroll into a university first .I have seen in this forum they mention the three...tesc etc which is the most cheapest and simplest without a lot of hassles?
I will have to go for the two hours limit then not more!and would have to really work on this.
Runner4064
this is the only center giving clep here no other .This institute have their own rules and I dont think Clep will be able to dictate to them. After all their official fees is 65 dollars for clep but the institute are asking for the invigilating according to their time.but its still outrageous..if only they were flexible like in the states..
thanks guys for your valuable input. Now to start registering for a university but which one?
peace...

HI all,
I have decided its too much for me to clep my exams here in the gulf with the exorbitant exam fees and want to cancel my membership with instant cert academy before the one month pass or it will be deducted from my credit card.
How do I do that?
thanks in advance..
