Quickest Masters Degree
#1
It's been awhile since I've been on the forum. Glad to see it's still up and doing well. So, where should I look for the quickest masters degree? I'm in the history field but I don't need it for work really just to have it. Suggestions?
TESC: BA and AA, Liberal Studies, History concentration, 2011

Regents College (Excelsior): AS, Liberal Studies, 2000

Trident Technical College: Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, EKG Technician, 1994-1996

WGU and Walden would probably be the fastest American degrees, seeing as how they are competency-based.

If an evaluation of "unaccredited Master's degree" doesn't bother you, you can't beat ENEB: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/ENEB

But, since you're in History, you might also be interested in this Italian degree in Classical Archaeology: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...a-Sapienza It wouldn't be FAST, but it would at least be in your field. It says you have to travel to Italy, but (due to Covid), apparently you can do exams remotely right now.

WGU's competency based degrees are the best bang for the buck, if you like writing, you can try the UMPI/UMass MAOL for slightly more in cost... Then there is Walden Tempo, PUG Exceltrack (MBA or MSIT) also offering CBE options. If you're not busy with commitments and fast because of previous learning or experience, you can probably finish a degree in 6 months...

If a person had a preference for a more traditional course-based approach, I can say that there are a number of 1 year MBA programs.  I'd also guess there are a few MEd programs that can be done in a year.  A part of the equation is how many hours per week you can commit.

Sure, but based on what you said, I doubt most people would be able to replicate that feat.

Whereas I think most people who have some free time could do WGU’s MSML in that length of time.

One thing you have to consider is that it's hard to sprint for a long period of time.

Even 20hrs per week starts getting hard as you go past a month or two of doing it.

Yes. I think there’s a tendency to state how fast and cheap a program is by the absolute minimum time and cost. Not what’s actually practical for most people. Calc in one month isn’t reasonable for most people. This can be deceiving to new onlookers trying to figure out their way to a degree.

It really depends on what degree you want, and how much time you have to devote as to what will be fastest. Some people will write papers like a champ, while others are better at exams. Some people will buckle down and do it in 6 months, while others will take 2 years.

I'm going to guess that WGU is the fastest option. 1-2 terms means 6-12 months.
