Questions on June Graduation at TESU
#1
Hi, i'm thinking to apply for June Graduation at TESU.

but i need to take 2 more classes from study.com!! (114/120) banghead

So, questions are..

1. Do i need to pay the Residency Waiver fee ($1800) first and then apply for graduation and pay graduation fee ($323) ?
I see the option to apply and pay for graduation on the website but nothing about paying Residency Waiver.

2. Can i still apply for June Graduation even though i'm 6 credits short?

3. How soon do i need to finish the last 2 classes?

Thanks in advance~ and any tips are appreciated~ :p

You can definitely apply for June. As long as you get those two classes in by the beginning of May, you can graduate. Worst case, they roll you over to September, so there's no downside to trying. You do have to pay the fees when you apply for graduation.

TESU: BA in Comp Sci (2016)

So, their stated deadlines are...suggested? Right now, I'm anticipating having my classes done before the January 1 deadline (for the March graduation). However, if I hurry over the summer, I could have the classes done by early-mid October. The published deadline to apply for December graduation is 1SEP. Does this mean that I could actually apply for December graduation, even if I'm still finishing up a class?

Thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to try. I know they do a graduation audit shortly after you apply. Then the notify the people who are good, and the people who are missing stuff. You can make them aware of your plans and they will set up a second audit at a later date. If you don't meet it by that date then you will most likely roll over to the next graduation. I actually decided to move my "Graduation" Date back to the September Graduation due to money and how close I would be cutting it to and actual "hard" deadline they may have. I am targeting to be completely finished with my Credits by End of May so I just said I'm not going to rush myself and settled on September.

I'm right there with you. I'll be applying for September graduation because I need to be able to pay the graduation fee + residency waiver. I plan to have all classes finish by May 1st. But if not June 1st is fine to.

OK, here's the scoop. About two months before graduation (so for June we're talking early to mid April) they will audit your credits. If you don't have everything in place they will tell you so and schedule a second audit a month later. If you keep them informed of your situation, they will work with you fairly close to the graduation month. We don't know how close they'll go, but I assume there is some internal drop dead date. Except for having to pay the fees sooner, there is no downside to trying to graduate sooner rather than later.

Yeah If I had the money now I was going to apply for June Graduation but I just don't have it. And I really don't want to borrow money from family to do it either. I do still have a few days to decide on asking or not, I know I have some family members with 2123$ laying around. The soonest I can possibly get this done would be May 12th that's when Spring Classes end. I will have to wait to apply for May Term TECEP though so not sure what day that starts so it may be a bit further then May 12th. Add transcript delivery time and audit time and not sure if that is reasonable or not. Maybe I should call TESU and see what they say. I am definitely thinking about it a bit more now.

Thank you so much for this information! I've juggled things around so I'll be done 20OCT, which should let me graduate in December! Yay!

Thanks for the advice! I wish i can finish those two classes soon. Wink

I'm wondering if there are four Commencement Ceremonies each year.

Anybody know when the Commencement Ceremony date will be.. If i graduate in June 2017?

I believe commencement is done only once a year in September. So if you are a June 2017 grad you can walk in September 2017 commencement.
