Question about TESC Free Electives
#1
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on this wonderful board and would like to thank everyone for the goldmine of information I have found on these pages.

I apologize in advance if my question seems like a dumb one, but I trust the answers here more than I trust whomever is answering the phones at the college.

My question is this: I would like to earn a degree in Psychology. This allows me to have 27 credits in "Free Electives". Would a CLEP/DSST in a business course (i.e. Principles of Management, Marketing, etc.) count as a Free Elective? Or do business courses not cross over?

Thank you for the help.

Free electives can be anything college level. Any subject area and any number of credits per course. The exception is when courses overlap and are deemed "repeated" or in the case of non college-level coursework such as developmental (Beginning Algebra for an example) or Technical credits (which TESC doesn't take). ANY CLEP or DSST course will fit as long as it appears on the grid and doesn't overlap (such as taking both exams that are COS-101 credit).
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Thank you SO much cooperalex and chiquitacobbe. I was afraid that business would be considered a different area like Allied Health is.

Gonna Amazon some books now to prepare. I'm hoping to take 4-5 exams in July. Wish me luck
