Hi everyone,
I am studying to take the Psychology clep and I have never learned this subject before. I learning this all on my own and I am having hard time. If you know of any good websites to help me with my endeavor or any other resources, it would be greatly appreciated!
What psy perspectives are covered on the clep? What kind of questions does the test usually asks about them?
Thank you so much!

Hello Clep Lover!
Definitely check out the Exam Specific Feedback Forum and look at the Psychology thread. It contains all kinds of feedback from members who have taken this exam. There are also several links to alternative sources for study within those posts. The IC flashcards are a great resource, but also look into the REA study guide and Standard Deviants video.
Good luck!

I just took this test on thursday and passed with a 69, I found instantcert to be a little helpful, however sparknotes psych 101 coevered everything that I got on the test. You can go to sparknotes.com and read it there for free.
You will do great just study the info and I'm not sure if you are like me, I never look at a test as hard, just another task I need to complete.
Best wishes I'm sure you will do great.

Hey, if you have time before you test, check out MIT's OpenCourseWare.
I downloaded an Intro to Psych lecture series (it is 22 sessions though)
You can even download the notes/handouts from the class.
I stuck in in my mp3 player....the joys of modern technology!!

This was my first CLEP exam. I studied for 3 weeks using only the REA study guide w/CD. Make sure to pay the extra 10 bucks for the one w/ the CD. Those practice tests were great. I did not use IC because @ the time I had no idea this great study resource existed. Scored a 64. Use Wiki to supplement major players and theories. REA + IC = a high pass for this exam. Break a leg!

Hi,
I have some more question about the psy clep.
How much statistics is on the exam? How indepth do I need to know statistics?
What psychologists do I need to know about? Do I need to know what books they wrote?
Thanks in advance.

How much stats? I'm sure it varies (there's more than one version of the exam), but it's not like you have to take the stats class to succeed in psych. Know things like: difference between independent & dependent variable (be able to recognize which is which from a verbal description of an experiment), be able to recognize a negative and positive correlation both on a chart and in a scenario. Are you using a textbook to study? Most have a chapter about research methods & measurement.
As for people to know about: Definitely know the big names associated with major movements. It's more important to know who is connected with which theory and how the theories differ than to know what books they wrote. You can find this on the internet; Wikipedia and the exam feedback thread on this site are your friend.
It depends on how deep you want to go -- you can probably get by with fewer than 10 names. I didn't have a question on Karen Horney, however, she was an important neo-Freudian, so I might have, and understanding her viewpoint helped me understand Freud, who I did have questions about. I didn't have a question about Carol Gilligan, but knowing about her helped me understand Kohlberg's theories, which I did have questions about. I didn't even come close to having a question about Gordon Allport (hardly a big name), but having read about him, I could eliminate him as a choice and got a right answer.
