Does anybody know the story of the Professional School of Psychological Studies and founder Herbert Cheuvront? The school was not regionally accredited and is now defunct. One of its graduates is Francine Shapiro, the originator of EMDR.

I found the California law about unaccredited psychology schools at https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces...onNum=2914.

The law prevents the creation of any new, unaccredited psychology schools. It also stops recognizing degrees from unaccredited psychology schools after the end of 2019 for application purposes. An already licensed person who maintains the license would not be an applicant and thus unaffected by the 2019 deadline.

The now defunct California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education allowed unaccredited schools to operate in California. The bureau ceased operations in 2007. The California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education started operating in 2010. During the gap, there was a window of opportunity to create questionable schools in California.
