I applied to the WGU MBA program last week. I was quickly contacted by an enrollment adviser. After being contacted, I was instructed to contact student services, since I was a former student. Student services informed me that since I was re-enrolling (even though it was for a different program) I would have to fill out a "petition for re-enrollment" form, and pay $100. I declined....exploring other options now.

That is a strange policy. You might want to checkout Patten University because it's also self-paced and cheap. It is for-profit and requires letters of recommendation.

My state college system has an MBA program that is self paced also. I'm going to research that a little bit more. The cost is $21000 for 5 terms. I would apply to one of the host schools (one in my home town) and that would be the institution that confers the degree, even though I could take courses from any of the host institutions.

I think only the foundation courses are self-paced. The rest of the program uses learning teams. Ew.

I think they're begrudging me for not finishing there first.

That is an odd policy. So far I have had no problems at all with WGU, I am due to start my MBA in February. I ended up with a 750 on the GMAT and was looking at ASU, IU and Penn State, but found that WGU had better flexibility working with my schedule and I could knock out the MBA in less than a year vice taking 2 years. Good luck in your search.

But keep it in perspective. A new applicant off the street pays $65 just to get a look. They are asking you for just $35 more than that to satisfy your application fee.
The real question is will you let $35 worth of fee's add a year or more in time and potentially thousands to the cost of your MBA.
There are plenty of reasons to choose some other school, WGU may or may not be right for you.....but $35-$100 shouldn't be the deciding factor.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.
