Hello Kelsey.
I have only taken CLEP Financial Accounting and I used IC and the Barron's Business Review Series Accounting (can't remember what edition but it was a green book). I also used the Standard Deviants Accounting DVD. You can probably get all of the above from your local library.
If you haven't already done so...sign up for an IC membership because there is a plethora of information on the Specific Exam Feedback Section.
If you are unable to do that at this time...I would highly recommend now and in the future...that you utilize the SEARCH feature provided on this site. Click on Search and below you will type whatever you seek in the SEARCH FORUM box.
I'm only mentioning this because I know others are going to view this post who may be new and need help in this matter. A lot of folks on here (and I'm guilty of it myself from time to time) ask questions and start posts/threads that have already been discussed and addressed in other posts/threads.
Hope I was able to help you on this matter. I wish you well on your educational journey. Welcome again to InstantCert.

I would say take accounting first and then principles of finance. Lots of crossover material.

Accounting first, then Finance. Managerial Accounting before Finance, if you are taking that. If you are taking Economics and haven't yet they also build up to Finance.
Accounting: I used the REA book plus an intro textbook borrowed from the library for when I wanted a bit of extra coverage. Finance, I'm using an old edition of one of the texts recommended in the exam outline, the quizzes on the book's website, and Barron's Finance when I want to read it explained differently. IC a little bit. The IC feedback forum for both (and every other exam I have taken). Hope this helps.

Are you getting ready to take Finance? I hope to take it within a week. How is the studying going for you? I hate this one. I am using one of the recommended texts also and feel like it goes too deep. I am having a hard time deciding what to concentrate on even with the help of jadechow (my hero) and the feedback. I took acct 1 and 2 about 5 years ago, used to be in the mortgage business and do tax returns and it seems like all of that is not helping much. Geez all those blasted calculations and formulas....killin me!

I've only taken the new Financial Accounting exam. To study I would recommend The Accounting Game book and, of course, the IC cards for Financial Accounting.
Keep us posted, Kelsey!

Thanks everybody for all the great info!!
categ--No I haven't started studying for this one yet. I am studying for Organizational Behavior right now and then I have to take English Comp. with Essay, but these won't take long to finish.

After that I will plan to start on the Financial stuff. Sounds like Financial Accouting is the best test to start with. I hope that the test goes well for you next week. Let me know how it goes and any feedback you have!
Levi~Will definitely keep you posted! Thank you for all your help along the way so far! Intro. to Business went fine.

If you need Managerial Accounting, I would forgo the CLEP and just do Straighterline Accounting 1 and 2. Otherwise, your plan sounds fine. Accounting first, then Finance.

I do plan on taking Managerial Accounting but through TESC. I did not know there was a CLEP test for that one. I have heard others talk about Straighterline, but I don't really know what it is.

I have never found so little to like about a study, even though I am learning a lot. I have been at this since Nov (not full time; I took ALEKS Stats during the same period) and it is only now starting to hang together for me. While I expect there will be some questions where formulas will be important, it seems really significant to me that there are none among the sample questions.
I miss having a Peterson test for this one. I'm using the web site for the Ross book -- has 3 quizzes per chapter.
