Hi All...
Itâs been quite a long and winding road for me, but Iâm finally ready to move on to the next step toward completing my BA/BS in either Liberal Arts or Humanities. I've completed all my lower level credits

and have been thinking about taking some upper level online classes. However, I see that most of the classes I'm interested in have numerous prerequisites. Are prerequisites waived for "independent students"? Are CLEP tests/SL courses considered acceptable for fulfilling prerequisite requirements? Online classes I'm considering are at BYU and LSU - specifically literature and/or psychology courses.
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!

I know at BYU the prerequisites are merely "suggestions" and they really don't worry about that, especially for lit classes. Not so sure about the psych classes...give them a call or try their live chat.

I suspect this is going to vary a bit from school to school. I can tell you that my experience at both CSU-Pueblo and the University of Arkansas where that they never asked for any verification of any kind..no transcripts, no personal statement, nothing.
Will CLEP satisfy? Again it depends, but I'd sure argue that it does...and be firm but pleasant if it comes to that.
I will tell you that my experience with BYU was a bit disappointing. I'm sure the courses are fine, but they are a bit rigid in following their interpretation of policy to the letter...and that view isn't shared by all the other schools. They would not bend their dates nor accept FAFSA/PELL funds for their courses, now would they consider a consortium agreement of any sort. They had been my first choice till they shot down my plans. I was much happier with CSU-Pueblo. They may have the courses you need and I bet you'll love their excellent customer service.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thanks so much!! I've been planning and re-planning what classes/tests I want to take to "fill-in" my upper level credit requirements. Just knowing I have options...GREAT NEWS!
