This is it! BLS MIS Here I Come!
#1
I am finally about to submit my final draft for my last course at UMPI for my degree! And I couldn’t have done it without the help of you all. Thank you! I will be finishing Bio at SDC over this next week to have it sent over.

I initially signed up for UMPI in the Spring with hopes to knock out all the classes back then, but I overextended myself. I finished two, then the other two were added, and I just stopped logging in. I was working full time, attending Oakton CC, took some extra classes on the side to get the AAS at Pierpont, had just started a Software Engineering bootcamp and was trying to put the pieces of my life back together.

I wasn’t actually planning on registering for the Fall term, but out of the blue, I reached out to Jessica Aug 30th, and asked if it was too late to register for the fall. She responded with, “I’ve added these two classes, and you’ll see them in the morning!” Ha. So the next day began my sprint to the finish line.

Courses this term:

BUS 141 Intro to Project Management
BUS 244 Management Information Systems
BUS 307 Fundamentals of Consumer Behavior
BUS 321 Human Resource Management
BUS 334 Advertising, Public Relations
BUS 345 Database Management
BUS 433 E-Commerce & Social Media Marketing
BUS 440 Business Analytics
EDU 357 Children's Literature (My last class I am finishing now. Not hard, but a lot of work. Seems like a Capstone project)
HTY 370 Topics in Non-Western History: Arab-Israeli Conflict
HUM 103 Creative Decision Making
POS 101 American Government
SPA 101 Elementary Spanish 1

.pdf   UM_SSR_TSRPT-1.pdf (Size: 5.4 KB / Downloads: 32)

Jessica stated that the two courses I received an ‘F’ for non-attendance back in the spring, will remain on the transcript, but the new grades will replace the old one’s for GPA purposes. Most of these courses will have an 'A' except SPA 101, BUS 334, BUS 440 all have B+. Super frustrating when two of those had drafts, the other was an exam with 88%. Can't wait to see the updated GPA so it can really be solidified in my mind.

I have to add in the disclaimer that I honestly do not recommend this route. I operated on 2-3 hours of sleep per night for about 4 nights in a row then would get a full 8-9 hours for a day, then repeat (with a 30-min nap thrown in here & there). At one point, I was dozing off in the middle of the kiddos’ martial arts belt testing and nearly missed the highlight of the ceremony. Not recommended for any length of time. But I am so grateful to have this almost in my rearview.

Many of you saw my previous posts. I am an ex-convict, single parent/adoptive parent of 4 with two special needs toddlers, who works full time, and I homeschool two children. If I can do it, you can too.

Thank you all & blessings!

If I'm reading this correctly, you were taking classes at a community college, bootcamp, and additional courses for your Pierpont degree while working full time and going to UMPI? I'm surprised you got any sleep. You must have been so burnt out and exhausted! Nice to se that you were able to rebound so quickly!

Those marketing classes have wicked long Final Assessments! They were really time consuming for me. I couldn't wait to finish them. LOL

Haha, yeah I was exhausted. I have no idea how I made it through. I think I hyperfocused because of what I just put my family through and wanted to make things better for them. With Oakton CC and the SE Bootcamp- they were both synchronous and on the same day, so I would leave my cam off but sound up for Oakton, then turn the captions on for the bootcamp. I started having the strangest dreams about Javascript  Big Grin

Def right about the marketing!!! I went into those classes thinking- Oh, I've managed marketing campaigns for my business, this will be cake. Joke was on me, LOL. The professor just said it looked great and submit for grading on BUS 334, so I did. It was returned it with a B!!! (Only comments were that it was great and everyone could use improvements sometimes - or something along those lines) Uggh Confused

The professor for BUS334 is really tough! I didn't find great feedback from him. BUS443 wasn't much better. 15+ page paper. UGH! Yeah I didn't expect the marketing classes to be so difficult or time consuming when I started the BABA last fall. I don't know how you did all of those classes at the time. You must have been a zombie.

Congrats on getting this done! Yes, I agree, I would have done it differently and spread out that energy, money, time to get it done slowly and surely (save some brain cells in the long run, plus get some more sleep) ... but as long as it worked for you, that's what matters! Hope you get that final class completed and be done and ready to graduate!
