Possible test-friendly TESU BA Sociology degree (after July 2015)?
#1
I've never posted here before, but I've been lurking for a few months and finally applied to TESU a couple of weeks ago. As my first post, I thought I'd try my hand at a test-friendly (minus one class and the capstone) BA Sociology degree, as I hadn't seen one posted before.

Please take a look at tell me if I'm way off base or if you have other suggestions. This assumes (and I have not checked with TESU to confirm) that two TCC and one CSU Global CBE soc courses will be accepted as UL as recommended, and that standard Stats classes will be accepted for TESU's "Methods of Sociological Research (or Statistics)" requirement.

Combine this plan with the current known general ed test-out plans, and fill out your free electives with any necessary TECEPs to meet any applicable residency requirement for your enrollment plan, and I think you have a soc BA...

Area of Study: Sociology

A. Required Courses (9 Credits)
  • Introduction to Sociology TECEP, DSST, CLEP, UExcel, Straighterline (LL)
  • Social Theory TESU Online Course SOC-417 Contemporary Sociological Theory (no known test-out) (UL)
  • Methods of Sociological Research (or Statistics) Stats @ DSST, Straighterline, ALEKS, TECEP, or UExcel (LL)

B. Capstone (3 Credits)
  • LIB-495 Liberal Arts Capstone (no possible test-out) (UL)

C. Sociology Electives (21 Credits)
  • Gerontology E-Pack (no TECEP) Social Gerontology (SOC-315) (UL), UExcel Foundations of Gerontology? (UL?),
  • Marriage and the Family TECEP Marriage and the Family (SOC-210-TE) (LL)
  • Drug and Alcohol Abuse DSST (UL?)
  • Social History of Jewish Food Tor College Credit (UL?)
  • The Jewish Child in Traditional Jewish Society TCC (LL)
  • Sociology of the Ba'al Teshuva Movement TCC (UL?)
  • Community Development GSU Global CBE (UL?)

Since you'd be using 3 of TCC's soc options, you might want to have at least some interest in Jewish social topics, or it might be a bit dull to get those 9 credits, but unfortunately those interested in sociology test-outs have limited options.

Hopefully I didn't embarrass myself here. What do y'all think? Will the credits I think of transferring as UL actually transfer that way? Any other suggestions or credit sources?

Thanks! Looking forward to be more active around here and not just lurk!
