So...I'm in the same region as you.
This year was also my first year, and my last year too (as a debate/speech competitor), because I'm a senior in highschool.
I am so happy that I was given with the opportunity to participate in NCFCA this year; it has immensely improved my public speaking skills and God has richly blessed me with many new friendships and learning experiences that will last me a lifetime.
At the beginning of the year when my coach announced partner pairings, I was surprised to discover that my debate partner was also doing CLEP tests through CollegePlus just like I was! It has been very exciting for me because throughout the year we have been able to help each other with different tests as well as speeches...and the proof is right here, since he's the one who introduced me to Instacert. =D
I don't have the exact total of the rounds we won memorized though...lol.
How many years do you have left in NCFCA? I presume you're addressing me... I have 2/3 years left! I can't wait to see what the resolution will be!

I used to do several speech contests with the homeschool groups in St. Louis, and later did them with 4-H. Presently, I travel to libraries, schools, and other groups to speak about the Civil War and promote my books that are historical fictions based on the war. I'm a States' Rights man and love to talk about the causes of our 'War of Northern Aggression'. Stop by and drop a line on my blog, SLICE OF BRYCE.

Speech is a great asset to have in life. I'm glad I did NCFCA for five years, despite the headaches that occasionally surfaced.

How I love NCFCA...it really gives you great experience that you can use in the real world. Communicating effectively is one of the key aspects of life.
And every once in awhile, when you and another person fail to communicate as a result of confusion or something else, you can safely say, "What we have here is a failure to communicate!" -Cool Hand Luke

Oh I just wanted to post and say that I wish the resolution was different! ![Sad Sad](https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/images/smilies/sad.png) Are there any other people on here that will be debating next year wishing the resolution was different than environmental policy?
BTW I wish it was the Federal Lands topic.

Nick, I liked the rez for LD (I've done LD and TP), but I realized just how very ambiguous the TP rez "The United States Federal Government should change its enviromental policies" really is. There are so many enviromental issues out there, and there's going to be a plethora of defintions for every case presented next year...all vastly different from one another. I'm concerned about judging TP next year due to the conceivable fact that my head may just end up exploding!
The thing that upsets me most about this resolution is that it doesn't even specify WHERE the USFG should change it's enviromental policies...
In the US only? Anywhere they have a company? A US organization/ company that originates in America but is widespread throughout the world??
...McDonald's?!?
The possibilities are endless.
I did not vote for enviromental policies.
However, I believe that federal lands wouldn't have been much better, seeing as how "federal lands" applies to a vast area as well -- true, that rez is more limited, but it would've given everyone a whole lot of killer research.
But it looks like everyone's gonna be in over their heads next year anyway...

![Sad Sad](https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/images/smilies/sad.png) Federal Lands would have been slightly less broad and occupational safety would have been boring. Oh well. I was confused with the resolution for this last year too. Probably didn't help that it was my first.

BTW I wish it was the Federal Lands topic. I agree completely. As soon as I saw the resolutions possible, I wanted the Federal Lands one...but of course, next year I won't be debating the resolution, but judging it. hilarious
Occupational safety = Unions. Ew.

True, occupational safety would've been completely boring.
At first I was thinking of voting for it because it was very specific, but then AFTER I voted for it I realized I should've voted for Federal Lands b/c OS would've been boring.
My thoughts exactly, Ruddigore! Gooo next-year TP judges!

I'm from region3 and just qualified last year to regionals ... maybe not as big of an accomplishment as some of you others, but it was big for me. ![Wink Wink](https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/images/smilies/wink.png) (went 3-3 and didn't break) My sister and I were partnered up, but she'll be too old this year so I'll have to find a new partner.
I also do impromptu ...
