Please pray for my first CLEP test tomorrow - I'm a just a tad nervous
#1
Well, tomorrow is the big day. Just thinking about it makes me a bit nauseous. And I know when I sit down to take the test, my heart will beat faster, kinda like when I'm about to bid on something for eBay right at the last minute! Silly, I know. :o

I'm doing the U.S. History II CLEP and have gone over IC cards, the REA book, did the HistoryTeacher AP tests (I really liked those), gone through some concepts with a huge U.S. textbook, and wrote out notes on everything I'm a little unclear on still. So, I think I'm prepared okay.

I could use some prayer from you all...to be able to focus when I sit down to do this. Like I said, the material is pretty clear in my head right now, just not sure I can transfer that to the test.

Good luck tomorrow and you will be able to transfer the information to the test. It is amazing how it can all just come together when you are in the middle of the test. Think positive!

You'll do great! I'll pray for you!

Just remember to click the "Report Your Score" button at the end. That's Very Important. And don't forget to show up with your two forms of government-issued ID. Big Grin

Suggestion: Eat a healthy high-protein meal or snack before you go to take the test. Make sure you've drunk plenty of water that day. Don't eat anything sugary or any refined white flour. That'll help you think clearer.

They say that you're not allowed to eat or drink while taking a test, but it might be worth showing up with a water bottle and asking if you can bring it in with you. Our testing center never cared and it was nice to be able to pause and get a refreshing sip of water and clear my head for a second.

Margo, I'm rootin' for ya!!! Yes, it's scary, but to use your ebay example, you're going to be getting a really good deal! I'll be waiting to see how you did! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Do you know how to "brain dump?" If there is something you are getting stuck on- maybe dates or such, just study in the car right up until it's time for you go in. Do not bring in your notes, but once you are inside and at your computer station, use your scratch paper (be sure to ask for some if it's not provided) to "dump" all of those worrisome facts onto your paper. Then begin your exam. As you go through the test, take notes - especially on items that refresh your memory on other items you want to remember. This saved me on a few US History items! Be sure to turn in your scratch paper when you exit the computer station.

I'll be waiting to hear how you did!

Of course, we'll pray with you!

I have found that having taken the practice tests in the REA book is quite helpful during the real test. I kind of feel like I have already done this and it makes the real test seem not so overwhelming. (It still has its intense moments but I have had practice getting through them.)

Best wishes on your exam!

Margo,

I have already prayed for you to do well tomorrow on your history clep. In reading your post, it reminded me of myself! Smile I always prepare so much for tests, but then feel sooo nevous before I take them.

You have prepared really well for this test and I am sure you will do great. You have also been given great advice from the forum members. One thing I would add is to make sure you get a good night's sleep (don't stay up late studying) and, if possible, before the test (or the morning of the test), try to get in 15 - 20 minutes of exericise. It will help you release some of the stress you feel and make you more alert. Also, be sure to eat something before the test, even if you don't feel like it. It will help you concentrate better.

... I'll be praying for you. Let us know how you do!

I had hoped for a few replies, but there are so many! With so much support, it makes me feel like I really can do this. And wonderful, helpful ideas too! Some things I hadn't even thought of. Let's see....

Report Your Score button....check
High protein meal....check
Drink enough water....check
Bring a water bottle....check
Brain dump....check
Get enough sleep....check
Exercise a bit....check

Thank you all so VERY much for taking the time to reply and for taking the time to pray. I'll report in by 5 p.m. tomorrow (the test is at 3:00) with my score. Back to studying for now. Wink
