lots of credits, need advice
#1
Hey! I’m hoping I can get some help with figuring out a degree/school plan. I’d like to finish as quick as possible, and I don’t have a preference for major. I’d be willing to do courses on straighterline/sophia/ect.

So far I’ve been looking into CUNY and UMPI, but I’m not sure if UMPI’s online or YourPace would be better suited for me.

Thank you in advance for your help and advice!

Decide on the degree and the school, if you haven't found the program you needed, you have to stop for a moment and think which degree/school is your best option to finish. BTW, Full fail err Sail is Nationally Accredited, I recommend going for a college/university that can take their credits. CUNY and UMPI may not take their credits at all... your best bet is to continue with WGU, if you need to take more courses, see partners.wgu.edu and you will notice Sophia.org/StraighterLine/Study.com are part of that list...

At a quick glance, you should be good for a BLS or a BABA at UMPI. With the BLS, you'd probably be able to dump most of your credits in. With the BABA, you'd probably have to do some Sophia for the GEC requirements because you've got a lot of credits that wouldn't fit any requirements. I think.

UMPI would also require 3 credits in foreign language (InstantCert Spanish is recommended), Biology 101L @ Study.com, and one other SDC course because you get 2 in a month.

I forgot that Full Sail is NA. You could possibly still transfer those courses to Excelsior, though. I'd suggest signing up to Sophia.org and completing two courses that don't overlap with what you've already done. Human Biology & Environmental Science would be quick ways to do that. Then you get a free application to Excelsior and you only have to pay to have your transcripts sent in.

While waiting for Excelsior's evaluation, you'd want to continue taking classes at Sophia.

Full Sail being NA is an issue. Most schools will not accept NA credits. I don't know if UMPI will, but I don't think they do.

From their website:

How do my credits count?
UMPI has a favorable track record when it comes to credits transferring in. We accept transfer credits from colleges and universities that are regionally accredited. You must have received a C- or better in a course for it to transfer. Courses may transfer equally for UMPI courses or may come in as elective credit.

University of Maine System Transfer Guides:
https://www.maine.edu/students/transfer-guides/

Full Sail also looks like it's on the quarter credit system so you kind of get screwed on the transfer credit because if a school requires 3 credits in Eng Comp and you only have 2.67 you're stuck taking it again.

Why not finish you degree at WGU? UMPI is also a competency based program. It's a different format, but you're still on your own for the most part unlike a traditional college.

I'd just stick wit WGU, why change at this late date when you have a bunch of credit already.

Now, I'd probably take a few things at Sophia or Study.com first, and then re-enroll. But it certainly doesn't help to change to a different school at this point.
