Planning on enrolling to Charter Oak for my Bachelors in Business

Hello all,
Thanks for taking the time to read my post

I graduate in July with my Associates in Paralegal Studies from National Paralegal College. NPC is nationally accredited and Charter Oak has an Articulation agreement to accept almost all of my credits towards a bachelors in Business. I am wanting to get a head start and take some Cleps.

Is there anyone who can help figure out some cleps that would be great to take or help me come up with a plan? I am a mom of four and husband has a great job at Boeing so my plan is to try and earn a bachelors quickly and for cheap. I am 30 and would love to have a bachelors by the time my youngest is in kindergarten he's 2 now . Is this feasible to do ? And feasible to do without actually enrolling until August? Is it better to enroll and ask them for a clep/credit by exam plan ? Or better to find someone who can help me and clep out of many things then enroll after I have the credits?

I can list all classes I have earned credit from if need be? Hope this all makes sense.

It's a little difficult to know what you need without an evaluation from COSC, but I can tell you some things you definitely need:
1) Oral Communication - Speech DSST or Intro to Comm from SL
2) US History/Government - US History, American Gov - CLEP or SL
3) Non-US History or Culture - World Religions, Vietnam (UL) or Soviet Union (UL) DSST
4) Literature & Fine Arts - Art DSST, Any Literature CLEP
5) Social/Behavioral Science - Your Econ courses required for the Business degree will also fulfill this requirement
6) Mathematics - Your Business Statistics course required for the Business degree will also fulfill this requirement

7) Business Prerequisites - Microecon & Macroecon CLEP, Saylor or SL / Business Statistics ALEKS, Saylor, SL
8) Financial Accounting CLEP or UExcel, or both Accounting I & II at SL
9) Managerial Accounting UExcel or SL
10) Principles of Management CLEP or (UL) UExcel
11) Management Info Systems CLEP
12) Principles of Finance (UL) DSST or (UL) UExcel (COSC says these are both LL, but the exams say they are UL so you'd want to check)
13) Organizational Behavior DSST, SL or (UL) UExcel

There are more places to take these, but these are just the most common ones. Charter Oak is a lot more stringent with their UL courses than TESU (which is what I'm most familiar with), so it's going to be impossible to attain all of the UL courses you need to take via CLEP/DSST. But it may be worth it if they accept a lot of your Paralegal courses towards a business degree. You'll just have to work to take more courses in different ways (UExcel for instance, or CSU-Global if COSC will take them).

You might want to apply at TESU as well, even without the consortium agreement they may accept the paralegal courses, and TESU is easier to test out of (you can test out of the capstone, for instance, and many courses come in as UL even if they're technically not). It can't hurt to see what they do with your courses.

+1 what dfrecore mentioned, you may want to create a spreadsheet to reference and track your progress of completing courses. Moreover, review possible options for cheaper, easier, faster credit on their Master Exam List and their participation in the ACP (just like TESU and others).

I spoke with admissions representative from TESU. She informed me that because my national paralegal college credits were assessed by NCCRS they will accept all my credits. So from personal experience then is TESU A better school to go with to obtain what I'm trying to do ? Thoughts ?

Most people on here prefer TESU and it is generally the slightly cheaper option. However, most of us haven't had experiences with more than one of the big 3 schools, so the preference kind of just boils down to what particular school we picked, with nothing to compare it to.

The best option will depend how exactly each school transfers in your credit and how it fits in to the degree you want.

Haha, that's exactly what I wanted to say. Before the April 1 changes at TESU...
I was looking at both schools and was leaning more towards TESU because of a few reasons.
After the changes, they are virtually identical in all aspects, the main reason now is in the name.

If it were me, I'd go ahead and apply to both and send them transcripts. Then you will have evaluations with your courses plugged in. It will make it easier to see the differences (if any).

+1 on this, as COSC also accepts the free credits on the wikia page and FEMA courses for free electives.
For TESU, they no longer accept FEMA for free electives, but do accept the free credits below.
