Planned courses got demoted from UL to LL at TESC
#1
I already had several courses planned in to my academic evaluation as UL...I completed those classes and sent in the transcripts, and lo and behold, they're no longer UL. Sad Is there anything that I can do? I'm set back another 2 classes. I feel almost like TESC violated their "agreement" with me. banghead

Did you have something in an email stating how the courses would transfer? Either way, it never hurts to send a question to Registrar. My courses transferred in different than anticipated (and how it had been planned on my evaluation), and it just took quick emails to Registrar to have it fixed. I think they use automated settings when transferring that override plans, but when I questioned it, they set it back to how I'd planned and aplogized for the mix-up.

You may also need/want to set an appointment up to speak with an academic advisor. My husband had an upper-level course transfer as lower-level, (without any prior agreement or anything; this is just what happened in his initial eval) but he was able to get it revised after talking to the advisor and pointing out that his course description from his other school closely matched a course description TESC has by another name that is UL.

When I took an ECE it was listed as upper level but TESC gave me lower level, I just sent in an E-mail explaining why I should get the upper level credits and it was changed. You have nothing to lose by appealing the decision use a course description and a good argument for your case.

Try and ask, try and beg. This happened to me with 1 class that cost too much money and took too much effort for what I ended up getting from it - a lower level elective. I hope you get it bumped back up Sad

Thanks guys. Academic advising told me to petition the dean. I had everything in writing, and submitted course descriptions at the time when I first had them planned in.
Advising said it was probably due to one or two things: 1. a mix-up thinking that my university was a CC (it's not!!) 2. the courses were originally numbered at the 100 level and are introductory courses. I hadn't expected UL credit when I first planned them in, so I was pleasantly surprised albeit a little worried when I received UL credit, but the advisor I spoke with at that time was sure of it. Yeah, right. I'm taking issue with them over retracting their decision (whether it was made in error or not) like that, since I took the courses based on the information I was given.

We'll see how it goes.

What kind of courses were they? I had a bunch of CC credit evaluated as UL. When I reapplied for the BSBA, the CC courses were still listed as UL.

I'd definitely appeal if I were you, especially with the biochem course. Did these courses have introductory general chemistry as a prerequisite?

No, the introductory inorganic chem course was the pre-req for the other 2. I hope to get a reply from the dean soon.
