Plagiarism

So... one of the other students in my APS-401 class is committing obvious plagiarism (copy/pasting from a "course help" site). Does anyone know how to report this? All the TESU site has is that I can report it to the Dean's office...

is this person part of your group project ?

can't you message the teacher ? teaching assistant ? adviser ?

if its not a group project then is it really affecting you ? is it hurting your grade ?

what's the big deal

Seriously? You're advocating plagiarism? I'm glad for the ignore function.

My suggestion is to stay out of it. This is the course instructor's responsibility.

I believe it's the responsibility of every person involved to report academic dishonesty. Letting a cheater get the same credit for a course cheapens the entire degree for everyone. Is this really the view of most of the people on this forum, including long-standing members?

Flelm,

I don't think any of us advocate for academic dishonesty. I abhor the activity very much. If anything, many of us are accused byoutsiders of "cheating" for using ACE credit and CLEP. But very few people are the type who feel they need to police every activity of others. Witnessing a robbery and not reporting it is one thing; exerting time and effort google searching another student's answers to check for plagiarism is another. It reminds me of the people who drive 55 on the passing lane blocking traffic through some sense of self righteousness.

It also seems that you already found your answer to how to report it ("...TESU site has is that I can report it to the Dean's office..."), but you posted on here for what? You now have three options, report it your mentor, report it to your dean (or both), or concentrate on your own coursework

Finish your coursework and congratulate yourself on a job well done. I've found that the type of people who plagiarize are the type who lack ethics and slip up somewhere in their life and get caught.

PrLoko-isms
Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Fair enough. I shouldn't have posted. I still don't understand this "don't ask, don't tell" philosophy everyone who has replied to me seems to follow.

I hope you just leave it be.

I will not. Why would you hope that?

I had a classmate who was blatantly plagiarizing in discussion posts. Our professor always praised his posts and held him up as an example. I didn't report him, but I probably should have because everyone's discussion posts were graded in relation to the cheating classmate's posts. In that case, his plagiarism did have an effect on the rest of the students.
