I'm sure there are multiple threads detailing the colleges that charge nothing for taking CLEP and DSST tests at their locations. The search function (even on bing) didn't turn up anything. So I live in Northern Illinois, and need to find somewhere fairly close that I can take CLEP exams for very low cost near here.
Any suggestions anyone? A link to previous posts would be great if your search skills are better than mine.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum :

I learned about Devry not charging through someone on this forum, but I only took one test with them. The person responsible for testing at the San Antonio location claimed to not have much time and came off as not wanting to be bothered.

My local University of Phoenix does no charge proctor fee testing on either Thursdays or Fridays.

Yup, DeVry doesn't charge for testing (at least in CA). But the one I went to only did CLEPs, because they didn't have a person qualified to do DSSTs. So just make sure of what your testing center can do.

I don't know where in northern IL you are located, but just from some quick poking around on the CLEP site and the test center locations shown in northern IL, I found one location (Sauk Valley Comm College) that does CLEP & DSST for a $10 proctor fee and three locations (Harper College, McHenry County College, and Rock Valley College) that offer just CLEP testing for a $15 proctor fee. I did not pay close attention to the testing days/hours, but you can easily find that info.

I did all of my testing through DeVry at their Irving, Texas campus and they charged $20 per test. But they also had almost every CLEP/DSST available. So it may be worth checking if your DeVry charges or not.
I'm a 19 year old, Software Engineer, who is enrolled at TESC for a B.A. in Computer Science. My bachelors coursework is completed and I am waiting for graduation to roll around. Will start pursuing ALM in Information Technology with a concentration in Software Engineering from Harvard Extension School sometime in the coming year.
