This is awesome! I second the thanks!

It reminded me of this thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...-from-UMPI

If I understand correctly, in addition to the Pierpont AAS, you can add in an AALS at UMPI on the way to the BAS? Would that be 15 credits at UMPI for the AALS, then another 15 credits for the BAS, or would it be 15 + 30 at UMPI?

Technically the associate degrees are not available in YourPace. If you graduate with the associate degree and then want to continue the bachelor's degree, you'll need to complete an additional 30 credits at UMPI. If you already have 1 associate degree, there's no point in a second while working on the bachelor's degree. I'd focus on completing the bachelor's degree and get it done.

Thank you for this information. So to clarify, the AALS can be completed through YourPace, even though it's not available in YourPace, and the 15 credits for the AALS is separate from the BAS, which is also not available in YourPace, but can also be completed through YourPace with 30 extra credits, or 15 + 30 credits at UMPI for both the AALS and BAS? So would you only transfer 75 credits, complete 15 credits for AALS, then the remaining 30 credits for BAS?

I'm the original person who started the mess with the AALS as an extra add-on degree en route to the BAS. This is how I've been explaining to people who intend to get the AALS along with the BAS. Just add it as a second program and leave it, because you only need to take 30 credits at UMPI. The major/minor or concentration from your BAS will transfer over to the AALS, you don't need to take ANY courses for the AALS as that is a general studies degree that will take ANY UMPI course, thus, you get it completed by finishing 1 term of your 2 term studies at UMPI... in short, add it and forget it...

That seems like a great ROI, so why isn't everyone doing it? Are they not aware, or are they turning it down for personal reasons?

Probably because by the time you get the AALS, you're like 90% to the BAS, and then instead of only needing 30cr at UMPI, you need 45cr.  I think this whole scenario slows you down rather than speeds things up.

There is literally no point to getting a generic associates degree when you're already going to be really close to the Bachelor's degree.  None. So never let that slow you down.

There isn't really a scenario that I can think of where having a generic AA and an AAS would be useful once you have your Bachelor's degree. I think the idea is that you don't graduate with the AALS until you graduate with your BAS, so you don't have to take extra classes - similar to how Associate degrees at TESU work? But I still don't really see the point for people who already have the Pierpont AAS.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

The Pierpont AAS will actually let you get a concentration, and get you to the BAS degree at UMPI more easily.  The UMPI AALS does zero for you at that point.

I really do not get the obsession with associates degrees on this forum.  I mean, I get wanting something to show for your hard work, but I seriously doubt their usefulness in 99% of the cases.

Keep in mind that UMPI RARELY accepts anyone into the BAS program. Many have tried and many have failed even though we met the requirements.

@ToBeIT, and whoever else reading and wanting to do the Pierpont to UMPI. It's just 30 credits needed to complete the UMPI AALS and the BAS or BLS, not the 45 credits a couple of members mentioned. That's a discrepancy in what is required and what members are thinking is required... It's like telling people not to do the ASNSM Comp Sci at TESU when they've got the entire requirements completed with the BSBA CIS.

Essentially, I mentioned the method in #13 and people still get that mixed up... there are no extra courses you need at all. There are times I have mentioned the Pierpont BOG AAS is not needed to go for a TESU or UMPI degree if your final goal is a Bachelors or higher, having said that, if you want to get the AAS or AALS and it doesn't take any extra energy, money, time or additional classes, just add it and forget it.
