Per credit tuition plan at TESC
#11
I like that this thread is sort of a "random thoughts" related to the PPC tuition plan at TESC Smile thanks Sanantone for answering questions!

My question: I'm wanting to get my sisters enrolled with this plan ASAP so they'll be under the current catalog. They each have to apply and pay $75 first, right? Then they'll get get a college ID and can register for TECEPs? TIA!

Yes. They'll apply and pay the application fee like normal, wait to be admitted to the college, and register and pay for TECEPs. They can wait until their evaluation is done if they want. Pay close attention to TESC's academic calendar because TECEPs follow the same terms and registration deadlines that courses do.

Thank you Sanantone! That's this page, right? Is there a way to see what TECEPs are offered in what terms, or are they just all offered at all times? ? I found this page, but it's only for courses.

Yes, that is the page. The only place I know to check for availability is Online Student Services. They should be available every term since no one at TESC has to administer them. Once you register for the test, you can take it at any time between the beginning and end dates of the term within the constraints of ProctorU availability.

So, another TESC enrollment question: should I apply/enroll in TESC now or later?
I have about 24 credit hours (from CC and 1 CLEP) and am hoping to complete about 100 (via CLEP and other exams) this year for a BA in Psych. I prefer CLEP vs. TESC exams. If I enroll now, I can lock in my BA program path, but will TESC make me take their exams over other (ie. CLEP)? And what's the best payment option if I register/enroll now but test outside of TESC?

Thanks for all input on this.
CLEP:
Analyze & Interpret Literature - 11/2014
College Composition - 3/2015

Objective: BA/Psychology (or Sociology) at TESC by end of 2015.

TESC won't make you do anything. You can use whichever credit sources they accept. If you choose the Per Credit Tuition Plan, you won't be able to graduate under it if you don't have 24 credits in residence for the BA. Three credits will come from the required capstone. The other 21 credits can come from TECEPs, portfolio assessments, e-Packs, and guided study and online courses.

The Per Credit Tuition Plan works best if you plan on taking no courses or just the capstone at TESC, and you're comfortable with completing TECEPs and/or portfolios. The Enrolled Options Plan is best for those who want to mostly test out, but don't want to worry about the residency requirement under the Per Credit Tuition Plan. The last I heard, international students can't take TECEPs online yet; they have to take them on paper. The Comprehensive Tuition Plan is for those who want to take 24 or more credits per year in TESC courses. If you are choosing the Per Credit Tuition Plan, then you should enroll now because there is no reason not to enroll. All you have to do is take one TECEP to enroll. With the Enrolled Options Plan, you have to pay an over $3,000 enrollment fee each year. That's why it's advised to have your degree mostly completed before enrolling under this plan. You just have to keep in mind that the catalog and policies can change while you're not enrolled. Enrolled students have the catalog of the year they enrolled locked in.

Would transcripts need to be submitted right away when applying under the PPC plan at TESC? I have some AICPCU credits (ACE approved) & I'm not sure if they could/would be used toward a BSBA in General Mgmt. If they can, it would help to finalize some plans. Is there a link to find out if they are accepted by TESC and the equivalent course they would cover? Thanks in advance!
