Patten University Gives Graduate-Level Credit for a Straighterline Course!
#1
This has to be the most bizarre equivalency I have ever seen. For SL's Organizational Behavior course, Patten will give you 3 credits toward their MBA program for Leadership and Organizational Behavior. The course code is MBA-605.

That's awesome. Also should note that an 80% is the minimum required grade for transfer.

That's quite odd...granting graduate credit for an intro course. Doesn't say very much for Patten, in my opinion.

BTW, I tried Patten but decided AGAINST it.

No because I'm probably not going to attend Patten. I thought about it hard, though. If one could finish their MBA program in 4 or 8 months, that would be a steal.

I see this as a ploy to entice students; a marketing tool. FHSU did something similar awhile back with SLs ACC-101/102 and ECO-111/112. During the short promo period, I took full advantage of turning SL credit into RA credit. The issue here will be other graduate schools accepting Patten transfer credit if you should decide you do not want to continue in their MBA program.

I don't know if it's a marketing tool but I do know that with the monthly plan (that sounds so affordable) you are required to continue paying even if you drop out. Read carefully before signing any agreements for those of you who decide to try it out.

If I were to attend Patten or any other school that offers monthly payments, I would just pay for the term in full. I don't like the idea of being in debt to a school that does not offer the same protections as government loans. You probably also can't receive your transcripts or diploma until you pay them off.

I don't think it's that bizarre. It's typically an intro course whether taken as an undergraduate course or in grad school so it's probably the same material for both anyway in most cases. For instance, lots of the courses available at Harvard Extension are available for credit as either undergraduate or graduate for the same course, you just pay more for graduate credit.

Graduate courses are supposed to require more work, though. When I took a course with undergraduate students for my master's, I had longer papers and discussion posts to write.
