Pathway to D.O. medical school? Please any guidance
#1
I am currently in the military and will be separating in August of this year. I wish to finish my degree from EC or TESC and apply to several D.O. medical schools for next year entrance. Can anyone give me a little guidance? What should I be more focused on?

search the forum, we have a couple good DO threads. If you can't find anything, go through my med school posts.

What to focus on? Acing the premed labs, killing the MCAT, and having fantastic letters of rec. That should do it Smile
P.S. TESC doesn't offer the courses you need, have you taken them already?

Another option to consider is a postbac premed program. These are usually one year certificate programs; though, I have seen a few schools that offer a master's degree. Georgetown, John Hopkins, and Boston University are just a few of the schools offering this type of premed training. Successful completion of one of these programs would serve a dual purpose. One, you have the prerequisites you need. Two, you prove that you're ready for the rigors of medical school.
If you don't mind being in the military here is another option. One of my friends, who is now a neurologist, attended this medical school after completing a postbac program.
