PF Financial Mgmt Question - Calculator??
#1
Is a calculator sent out for this class? I thought I read someone say it was, but when I called today to sign up for the class they said they do not send a calculator. Maybe I misread something or am mixing it up with some other PF class.

They sent a calculator, but no book now. The book is online, I started the class and almost finished before the calculator arrived.

I have them on the line and they say they are mailing me a book and charging me $15 for shipping it and $10 transcript fee. Did they do that to you?

All course materials should be included in the course cost. I even called about not receiving one of my shipments and they sent me a new box which included probably $300 worth of supplies at no cost. Of course I later found the other box... whoops.

They are charging me 262 (237 + 15 + 10).

The first time I called a girl stated it was all online, no book. Seems like everyone has a different answer.

They did, but i think the transcript fee can be waived if you care enough to ask (you're going to request credit from ACE anyway). I did not ask.

I did ask about the transcript fee, said using ACE, and she stated she was required to charge it.

They will try to sell you the moon if you are buying. Tell them you DO NOT want nor need a transcript. They tried to do the same thing to me, I refused, and received a free one in the mail once I completed my courses.

Remember folks, this is a business and it would seem Penn Foster is trying to rake in every dollar possible from unsuspecting new customers. I was only charged the course fee (which included the textbook and calculator) plus shippng.

Remind me to never get on your bad side Smile I tend to think if I had pushed it they would have waived it. I was told the $10 fee was only per account, so my subsequent classes (Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior, and Strategic Mgmt would be just the course price). All in all it's been an excellent value for me.

Straight up BS. Don't you just love Sales? The way they word things is just unbelievable. Well that may be the case for their enrolled students (one time transcript fee) but those here are only using PF for independent courses. What I think is going on is the transcripts are generated automatically. With the independent students they are just trying to make a few extra dollars to offset the costs. Well the price of admission is enough payment. As you know in order to receive credit the courses have to be transferred to our ACE accounts which incurs its own transcript fee. Why voluntarily pay for something you will not use? They need your authorization to put through that charge. If you say no, they cannot charge you.
