Hi,
I took some CLEP exams nearly 19 years ago toward my accounting degree. However, as you may know, College Board only keeps the scores on file for 20 years. Since my CLEP credits appear on my transcript as "transfer credits", I'm required to submit the official College Board transcript along with my college transcripts whenever I apply for a professional certification such as CPA. I plan on obtaining my CPA license in a different state next year after College Board expires the scores, so I was wondering if ACE will transcribe the CLEP credits for me, and if so, will they remain on the ACE transcript indefinitely?
I would appreciate your assistance.

I can't answer you about ACE but maybe this is another way.
Go to the Excelsior College site and look around. They have something where you can pay to "bank" credits there. See if that fits the bill.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Some of my credits were earned through the English Composition exam, and I remember reading somewhere that Excelsior doesn't accept it. Will they still add it to the Excelsior transcript?
Also, how are CLEP credits transcribed on the Excelsior transcript? Is it posted under "transfer credit" or "exam credit"?

I don't remember seeing this situation on the forum before.
Since you will need the transcript soon, I wonder if you could order a copy from CLEP before it expires and submit it yourself (Unopened) when you do your application.
If I recall correctly, some places require that the transcripts be dated within a short time, like 6 months.
For my degree at Excelsior, the transcript lists CLEP credit under CLEP. It is very clear what it is and where it came from.
On the other hand, if this is your only CLEP credit and the College Board policy is very clear plus it is on your degree transcript, how could this really be a big deal for this particular application?
If you remember, please let us know how this turns out. We'll all be in this situation in 20 years, too.

I would look at applying now to the school you want to attend and have your transcripts sent. They will do an eval and will have it on file, so when you re-apply it will already be there. I will tell you though, that most traditional schools won't take credits older 8 yrs old. The school I teach at won't take any technical based credits or core program credits that are older than 5 yrs old so find out if they will even accept them from that long ago before you go crazy trying to figure out a way to keep them.

I'm not applying to a college. I already have a degree. I'm simply applying for my CPA certification in a different state. Anyway, I can't apply early because the state's BOA requires that applicants be residents of the state for at least six months prior to applying. Unfortunately, I can't move for another year and a half.
To the previous poster, I have 24 credits earned through CLEP. I only mentioned English Comp because I was under the impression that Excelsior did not accept it as credit. As it turns out, they do accept it.

Were all of the CLEP credits just for Gen Ed or were some of them related to the requirements needed for a CPA?
I just realized I will be in this situation a lot sooner - 5 years for the GRE score.
The credit bank is useful for just a few situations. I'm not sure if this is one of them (since it's already on your degree transcript), so investigate carefully.
Also, they did include the name of the test, actual score, pass, and credits awarded on my transcript.
Edit: Look at #705 at the bottom of this page:
Louisiana State Board Rules
You may be able to get a similar exception (check your state) and just submit a photocopy of that CLEP transcript record.
