What Happens to Credit Overages at TESU?
#1
Hoping those who are further along can clear this up for me...

I thought that extra units over and above those needed to fulfill a requirement would go into GE or Free Electives on my transcript and I'm not seeing that.

For example, 4 SH needed in GE Natural World and I took 6 SH, what happens to the extra two semester hours?
- or -
3 SH needed of A&I Lit needed in Human Cultures but the CLEP is 6 SH.

On my Academic Eval they only show 6 SH in the Natural World slot (where I only need 4) and not in General Ed Electives (where I'd like to use the extra two units).

Is this something that gets fixed at the point of final academic evaluation or does it mean I need to take a few more courses?! I always thought the idea that you could only use a course to fulfill one requirement meant you couldn't duplicate, not that you couldn't take full advantage of extra semester hours earned.

Thanks in advance.

What you'll find is that it will lower the number of credits required in the free or GenEd electives. For instance I had an overage in my GenEds because Calculus 1 and II only had to be 3 units each, but my courses were 4 and 5 units and a 5 unit Trig course went into Intellectual and Practical skills. My GenEd electives area was reduced from 18 to 13 units:

Quote:D: General Ed Electives (Completed)
      > GENERAL EDUCATION ELECTIVES
      > Complete 18 semester hours (SH).
!! Exception
Credit overages in Calculus, Intell & Pract Skills
   13 sh required
If that didn't happen, then you should ask where the extra units went.
