Did you try collegecram.com? They have practice and review areas for Astronomy. I haven't tried this site myself, I will for Princ of Finance, so I can't vouch for how good it is, but at least it does have a section on Astonomy.

There's a free online study guide for astronomy at sparknotes.com that includes a review test.

Iam planning on taking the dantes astronomy test at Texas Arlington on the 29th and really like the idea of taking a practice test or two first. I thank you for the tips and here's wishing you both happy holidays and a diploma sometime soon!!! RonRolleyes

Ron,

Did you take the Astronomy exam? If so, how was it, and what did you use to study for it?

Thank you,

Sean

Yes, I took the astronomy test. I pushed the magic "report score" button and poof..up came a 47 when a 48 is needed to pass. I enjoyed studying for the test and the material associated with it. But, questions such as

1. What was the type of the first telescope ever used?
2. How far is the sun from the nearest galaxy?
3. Who is considered the father of astronomy?
4. What planet does not have rings around it...your given
4 choices... be sure to choose Mercury!!!
5. What planet has such and such moon in its orbit?

I knew the answers and I SUCCESSFULLY SECOND GUESSED MYSELF INTO..answering these questions wrong!! Otherwise I would have passed; no
problem. This test is not that hard. I lacked for study tools, but then at the end I found some good reference materials online and in the bookstore. This is a very doable test!!. It is a test that should be on the Instantcert program study program!!! I wish I could take again asap, but 6 months... no thanks, I plan ON graduating before then!!
Steve ..if you're reading this...I really believe having this included in the flashcard study materials would be a tremendous help for the non-science people such as myself!
Happy New year.. YA' ALL!!

RBOWMAN,

So what did you use to study for this test? The only thing I have ever found was sparknotes and the Rudman book. I decided to skip this test for now hoping that someone like IC would make it part of their program (hint hint).

There is this:

Astronomy 101 - Free Basic Astronomy Course - Introduction

It claims to be a 10-part lesson to teach the basics of astronomy. I haven't personally used it, or flipped through every page. However a sampling of the information on various pages was correct. I've taken Introduction to Astronomy and made an A, while tutoring someone else on it who also scored an A. I'm also an extremely avid space geek, so I already know most of this just from my hobbies. The site seems like its on the point with its info, and hey its free. I'm not sure how much of it would go directly to hitting topics that would be on the DSST for Astronomy. But with so few resources it wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Hope it helps.

Also if you are looking for practice tests:

Explorations An Introduction to Astonomy!

Then just click on practice tests. This is the same book and edition I used in my Introduction to Astronomy course. You could pair the practice tests (broken down by chapter) with the DSST test breakdown from the factsheet and test your overall knowledge of certain areas. I wish there was more I could find online.
