I don't know about writing trading programs. Any program, even the most simple looking, takes a lot of know-how to create. My mom is an ex-programmer turned web designer doing some educational programming on the side. I grew up around programmingspeak and I couldn't even begin to write a program.

My mom is starting a side business creating educational study guides and her latest one that she is working on is an intro to intro to programming (no that was not a typo Big Grin) She will be starting people out on the most basic stuff possible ("This is a function. This does ____"), not "here's this huge amazing program and here's the absolutely indecipherable code that runs it." Keep an eye out here (Interactive Study Guides - Study guides for literature, history, computers and more!) if you are interested.

Good luck on your computer learning!

Hey, thanks everyone. I'll be checking out your different link when I get a chance. Hopefully l can start diving into the subject soon. I know I have a lot to learn, so it will be a process of time.

Thanks again,

Actually if you want to learn programming concepts properly, from the looks of it Alice is a fantastic approach. Basically it's a graphical, drag-and-drop programming language that uses a 3D avator world to teach all the right concepts: object orientation, message passing, parameterized methods, control structures (IFs, LOOPs, etc), and more. It looks brilliant, actually. Learn the basic concepts with this, and then pick up Visual Basic or another language and you are mostly just learning the syntax because you already know the fundamentals of programming, not just "writing some VB code."
