Hello everyone, I have been browsing this forum for a while, and I have some questions about the OMSCS program from Gatech.
I have a degree in Psychology, and I'm looking to finish a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from TESU to prepare for OMSCS.
I wonder if taking all the alternative credits from SDC and Sophia to finish my degree in TESU will hurt my chance of getting into the OMSCS program? Because from what I can tell SDC or Sophia will not give out letter grades for their courses?

I have a psych degree, with a lot of graded credits, and I have an IT Security degree, with no graded credits (all pass/fail) beyond the Psych credits. I was able to get into the GT OMS Cybersecurity program without an issue, though I had professional experience and industry certifications to help boost my chances.
If you look good on paper otherwise, it shouldn't hurt you much.

Just FYI: if the school really wants to see it, both Sophia and SDC transcripts CAN be sent for grades. Brandman (now UMass Global) required/requires students to get at least 81.5% in their ACE courses in order for the courses to be eligible for transfer to that school. It's why I advise students who KNOW that they want to continue on to a grad degree to do as good as possible, even in pass/fail courses. You never know if your chosen grad school will decide to request the actual scores and not just the list of passed classes.

Take note that OMSCS provides guidelines for people who don't have the CS undergrad requirements and suggests that they may be met with some MOOCs and even offer some of their own.

It will depend on how strong the rest of your application is. If you have significant work experience, for example, then I would be surprised if the source of your CS credits would matter much. The main criteria they use is your ablility to do the work and graduate. In your Statement of Purpose, I would emphasize your success in completing your BACS in an online environment, and how your goal all along had been the OMSCS program.
