I am an LPN attending Excelsior College. I will be finished my ASN in January. I want to attend TESC or EXcelsior for my BA in Psychology so that I can attend Nurse Practioner school It is far easier than obtaining an BSN. Will TESC accept any of my nursing courses for credit ? I also have
Composition 5 credits
Human Development 3 credits
CLep
Analying & Interp Lit 6 credits
Intro to Psych 3
Social Sciences and history 3
Intro to Sociology 3
Humanities 6
Dantes
Technical Writing 3
Hers to your health 3
Principles of supervision 3

Anatomy and physiology 5
microbiology 3
Associate level nursing 24 credits
I plan on taking TESC Psychology of Women for my GPa, and use Exc, Clep, And dantes for the rest. What else would I need to get that B/A.

You are correct, it is FAR EASIER to earn a non-nursing bachelor's degree and apply for your MSN that way. Good catch
I've highlighted the courses in red which will probably count as general education. The remaining courses will likely be free electives- 24 nursing credits will be free elective. NOTE: you have probably completed your free electives, be careful from here on out so you don't overflow that area. There are lots of people here who can help you with a psych degree from TESC. If it were me, I'd take a few upper level psych classes at TESC for your major (with all the testing). The class work will help you develop strong APA writing ability- this will serve you well in grad school. You're on your way!!!

I too was an LPN before earning my RN, now working on BSN. TESC took all but my english credits for transfer. (I did obtain my RN from a community college, not sure if it will make a difference.) None of my LPN classes were accepted, however there is a site you can check to see if yours might be.

Quick fyi, the Psychology of Women TECEP is awarded CR only so will
not count towards GPA. You will need an actual course OL or GS for a grade. Also if memory serves I think substance abuse can be applied towards the psychology concentration.
Here are a few good options to choose from for your psych course(s):
Social Psychology (6cr)
Thanatology: An Understanding of Death and Dying (3cr)
Abnormal Psychology (3cr)

I am also a nurse and if I'm correct, you're going to need a BSN in order to be considered into most, if not all, NP programs. If you want easy then you should probably steer clear of the nursing field. I'm actually getting out of nursing, at least for a little while. I'm interested in finishing my BS in Mathematics, so we will see how that turns out. Let us know how this went!

That is absolutely untrue. 99% of the NP programs take a non-nursing bachelor's degree with your RN. On the contrary, 99% of the DNP programs want BSNs. It just depends on what you want.

I read too fast! Thought she was trying to go from LPN-NP. I honestly had NO idea that NP programs took non-BSNs! WOW. Which ones? Can you guys name a few?

I am now an RN, just graduated from Excelsior college. I plan on applying to Drexel University in Philadelphia, they have a Psych NP program. They do require a BSN, but they also offer a bridge program for those without a BSN. A very top notch school. You can be admitted with a BA from any field of study. Just picked BA In Psych because I have. Interest in the field. Thanks for all the good class suggestions.
