I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for quality study materials for college algebra. Going to take this one this spring and Im *really* not a math person. Id rather CLEP it than have risk a low butt-in-seat grade on my transcript. Ive been using Khan Academy so far which is good but looking for some addition resources. Im especially interested in either workbooks (online or paper) with problems and solutions shown step by step and any iTunes U lectures that youve found helpful. Thanks in advance :-)

I used
College Algebra CLEP Free Study Guide! - Free-Clep-Prep.com. All of the links for the different subjects on this page go to CoolMath.com. This site has some practice problems, and the concepts are explained in an easy to understand way (at least for me
).
After I went through everything on that website, I used
Virtual Math Lab - College Algebra. This website is excellent. It goes into a more detail than the Cool Math site (and uses more of the technical math terms, which you need, and has practice problems at the end of each tutorial. Specifically, after going through the other site, I did Tutorials 30-37, 42-47, and 54A-55. This helped to fill in the gap that the other site didn't cover enough.
I also went over the Official CLEP study guide practice test 4 or 5 times. After all that, there were still a few questions in the practice test that I didn't understand, but those questions didn't end up being on the actual test. I did take several weeks to study for this one, but probably way over-studied. I ended up scoring a 73 on this one.
Hope that helps!

Take a look at Aleks.
ALEKS Course Products: College Algebra They give an initial assessment and then you work your way through what you do not know. Once you reach a certain level on your pie, you take the assessment again. It's $20 p/ month. It seems like many here have a love or hate relationship with Aleks. But I think most will agree - even those that hate it - that you really learn the material. If you plan to graduate from COSC, you can skip CLEP, if you chose, and use Aleks for College Algebra. That's what I plan to do. I'm ok at math but I do not do well when timed in math. So I plan to use Aleks because it is self-paced. I can take the assessment as often I wish until I obtain at least a 70%. Before you pay $20 per month to use Aleks, do a search on this forum for Aleks and read the comments.

Thank you both, on the way to check out those sites now. I'm going to a B&M state school but holy guacamole is it tempting to enroll in COSC just to not have to take the algebra exam
